2. Your joking? He is not ready for prime time let alone a Senate seat.
I hesitate to suggest he won't get far, because you can never be sure.

3. What a moron
He must be joking. How come I haven't heard Tierney's name mentioned, I like him better then what I see out there now.

4. His other opponents would not be in the position where
exposing his liabilities would look like bullying. His career of defending drunk drivers never was used by Kerry. There was also a scandal of sorts at the very end of the campaign where it appears his FBI employed brother was used to gather votes in Springfield where the brother had worked on the case against corrupt Democrats.

His last looney statement after losing showed he was not completely in touch with reality. I guess he didn't get that many of his votes were likely people wanting to kick Kerry - knowing Kerry would win easily or independents really aligned with the Republicans also wanting to attack Kerry and to get a weaker candidate. All I know is that in the relatively small sample of Democratic voters I called, I got absolutely no one who said anything positive about EOR. I know he had a fan club on Blue Mass, who scared me for a while, but they appear to be few and far between in the overall population.

Does this mean he wants to waste more money?

5. After watching the debates he did with JK last year..

..I think it's pretty safe to say EOR is wasting his time, lol. I just don't see any way that he would win the primary or even an appointment, unless he was the only Democrat in a Special Election, the chances of which seem very slim to none, and even then..

Speaking of those debates, I love the expression on JK's face here, like he knows what a joke much of what EOR is saying about him is but is trying to remain civil and professional, which he of course manages to great effect :D:

But in all seriousness, I wonder who will end up getting the seat? MA folks, are you getting any indications?

6. Not to mention as the AG is running and the BG cites the fact that she

was honored by Mothers against drunk driving - EOR's main accomplishments - getting drunk drivers off - will be a nice contrast.

That photo is amazing - given the garbage that EOR threw at Kerry, it is amazing Kerry kept his cool - even as he had to be furious. (I remember though that either Beatty or EOR actually yelled at Kerry for "laughing" when all he did was have this genial amused look. EOR looked like an angry troll at times.

8. Leave it to Repubs to just push someone with name recognition-never mind he has no qualifications
to be a US Senator.

9. He'll get our redneck contingent vote for sure
He might even get more than the other republican (non)contenders, but the day Curt Shilling actually gets elected to represent Massachusetts in the Senate is the day I'm moving, I swear!

10. Not sure if other Massholes feel the same way here, but..
I'm beginning to get really resentful of the DU'ers in GD and GDP deciding who THEY want for Teddy's seat, and how John could never be Teddy's 'heir' and carry on his legacy, etc.
This is going to be OUR election. WE, the people from Massachusetts decide who gets to be Junior Senator, and WE reelected John, reaffirming that we believe him to be the best person for his seat.
I wish all the folks criticizing him yet again out there would lay off, and all those picking our next Senator for us would just shut up already and let us decide, dammit.

Ok, this is in no way directed at you good folk here in the JK group. You are behind him and us every step of the way :grouphug:

11. To be fair, they did this for all the Senate openings this year
The Caroline debacle in NY was especially bad.

John Kerry is the new Senior Senator from Massachusetts. Senator Kennedy can have a successor. He will never, in a sense, be replaced. The sooner we accept that in MA, the better off we are in terms of assessing new candidates for the other MA seat in the Senate.

Teddy Kennedy had a very close relationship with John Kerry and gave him advice and a lot of encouragement. Teddy K worked for Big Jawn in all his elections, save that first primary, and for PResident. I dare say that Teddy liked Kerry and wanted him to succeed.

You know, I had occasion to reread the first posts I ever wrote on DU recently. One of the first comments I ever wrote was in answer to a question what MA voters want from the good Senator. I think I still feel this way, they want him to live up to his amazing potential. That is one incredibly talented person and we will, for reasons happy and sad, see that now.

12. I know, and I felt bad for New Yorkers. Stayed out of it myself.
But you're right. Teddy did want John to succeed and help make his life's work reality. And I fully believe that JK will live up to that and then some.
