Love it or lose it?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/01/john-kerrys-beard-love-it_n_274201.html">John Kerry's Beard: Love It Or Lose It?

How on earth did John Kerry's beard go virtually unnoticed in mid-August? The Massachusetts senator seemingly used his recovery from hip surgery as an opportunity grow some stubble, and when he attended the swearing-in ceremony of his former brother-in-law David Thorne as the new U.S. ambassador to Italy, he apparently decided it looked good enough to go public. When he appeared at Senator Ted Kennedy's funeral nearly two weeks later, his mug was clean-shaven.

Should he bring the beard back? See pictures and weigh in below.

..for solidarity. :D lol.

Cute poll, though some of the comments on there are rather rude. :( I hope they are from trolls. Pretty sad if they are from fellow Progressives....oh well, those people need glasses. :P

4. check out this article on JK as fashion plate!
I found this by looking up the beard article.. . (thanks, fedup!)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/karin-tanabe/the-unsung-heroes-of-wash_b_271709.html
"The Seven Unsung Heroes of Washington Fashion". .

John Kerry - Can we ever associate French-speaking, windsurf-loving John Kerry with anything other than those headline-making floral swim trunks? Whether we can or not, we definitely should because the stylish man from Massachusetts sports one of the best wardrobes on the Senate floor. Perhaps Teresa Heinz helps with his attire, or maybe he's just a closeted fashionista, either way, he takes the classic navy blue blazer-wearing, red tie-sporting politician look to new heights. Opting for patterned ties with Hermès-like prints and classic New England khakis and barn jackets on weekends, Kerry is very much the Ivy League gentleman. As we all know, his champagne and sailboats look may have hurt him in 2004, but no longer!

Great photo (tan summer suit, reddish tie--I still haven't figured out how to upload photos here . sorry

6. Love how the mention the ties,
but we're waaaay ahead of them on the recognition and appreciation of JK's choice of neck wear. Entire threads have been dedicated to the subject.

10. Ahm, on balance, I didn't like it either
Maybe if it was more filled in, but the color didn't work for me.

BTW, fun discussion.

13. I vote no beard too.
Which is funny because I generally like beards on men. Hm--something about it doesn't fit JK. Maybe because he has so much head hair? Maybe because it makes him look out of character. Interesting though.

15. Yeah, it seemed sparse and the color didn't work for me either.
Maybe he needed some Grecian Formula dye on it- to darken it up a little. LOL

And, I agree, this is a fun post. We should do more of these once in a while. We take ourselves and Senator Kerry to seriously sometimes.

11. I voted no as well
May be because that is what I'm used to, but I think he has an interesting face that it is both youthful and shows gravitas.

I suspect there is just one opinion he values - and I bet he loved the comments that she has made in the past on his looks. I wonder what Teresa thought of the beard? (I would have been surprised had he not shaved it when Kennedy died - just as he likely would have before returning to the Senate.)

17. Strongly biased in favor of beards in general
in JK's case, not so sure. Maybe as others have said if he had given it more time... On a related personal note, my husband of close to 20 years has been away for a couple of months and will be back in a couple of weeks or so. He just emailed me that he shaved his beard, only the 2nd time since I know him that this has happened (and the first time was very early on). I dread the reunion :-).

19. LOL, we do need some more fun in here
But it has been really "hot and heavy" out there for a while now. We all need a respite from that stuff, 24/7.

As they said last week so many times, remember the phrase, "things are hopeless, but they are not serious."

20. Ok, here's what I gotta say about the beard...
I know a lot of you think JK is hot and sexy, and I could see what you were saying, I just didn't "feel" it, if you know what I mean. Now...fast forward to August '09, hip surgery and....BEARD!!!!! Holy Moley! What is this I am feeling all of a sudden? John is HOT! I mean sizzle in a frying pan hot. It's the beard I tell ya! :loveya:

And there he goes and shaves it off again. Sigh.....

He sensed all that long-distance sizzling and wanted to play it safe. I resent that. I wanted him to give the beard a chance to show its true potential.

24. I said "love it"
but gotta agree with some, it would be even better if it grew in more.

Still, it does give him a nice rogueish look. Or maybe it's "distinguished intellectual". Either one works. :)

Oddly enough, the beard was more "salt and pepper" than his hair.

I could have been persuaded to like the beard. My hubby has had one for years, after all.
