Joe Wilson demanded Senator Kerry apologize for comments back in 2004.
This guy is ignorant and partisan to the extreme.

During the 2004 presidential campaign, Wilson demanded that Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, the eventual Democratic presidential nominee, apologize for having criticized the U.S. troops in Vietnam in 1971. Kerry was a Navy veteran who had served in Vietnam.

Wilson’s call for a Kerry apology set off a round of acrimonious debate. Former Democratic Senator Max Cleland of Georgia, a triple amputee who served in Vietnam, called Wilson a “chicken hawk” who supported military action without ever having gone to war, according to the Almanac of American Politics.

1. What a hypocrite!
He made an absolute ass out of himself last night and judging by the reports of donations pouring in for his opponent in response, he just might pay dearly for it during next year's election. Would certainly serve him right!

2. Hum - He's 62 - clearly of age to have been one of those troops, but clearly
he also had other priorities, assuming Cleland is right.

It still bugs me when the right says this, as I know in the college population of the time, Lt Kerry greatly improved the image we had of the troops. Kerry's testimony was after My Lai, which very negatively impacted our view on both the war and the soldiers. It is sad that these people don't get that Kerry was speaking for the troops.

5. He was in the Reserves and then National Guard
I don't think we can call someone "chickenhawk" who served honorably in the reserves or guard. Reserve and guard units do get deployed to combat, although it is less likely. It's also less likely to be deployed if you are in some specialties vs. others, but it is still honorable service. (OTOH, if he claimed, as the American Legion commandant who harrassed JK did, to be a "Vietnam vet" although he never set foot in Vietnam, that' different. Then he'd be a liar. Like Morin.)

From wikipedia:
From 1972 to 1975, Wilson served in the United States Army Reserve, and then as a Staff Judge Advocate in the South Carolina Army National Guard assigned to the 218th Mechanized Infantry Brigade until retiring from military service as a Colonel in 2003.

6. Unfortunately, the uninformed and ignorant are widely and deeply spread across this country.
Because it's the only way W could have gotten close enough in 2004 to steal it.

8. I agree with both you and MH1.
Unfortunately, I don't see anything happening with the FCC any time soon.

It is a shame that free speech and free expression has produced the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and Savage. And, of course other second rate wanna be's that permeate the radio talk circuit across this country taping into hate and spreading their vitriol and lies to a listening public that is lazy and don't bother to seek out the truth.
