{div class = "excerpt"] When Setti declared he was going to run, I didn’t want to lose him,” Kerry said at a campaign rally for Warren Sunday at Newton Centre. “I said ‘You want to work for all cities, not one city!’”
But Kerry said his loss would be Newton’s gain, and the 200 people at Sunday’s rally agreed with him. The gathering was the last big event before Tuesday’s election, which sees Warren facing off against Rep. Ruth Balser in the mayoral race.
Warren spent several years working with Kerry, first as his national trip director during the 2004 presidential race and then as his deputy state director and communications director. Kerry said he got to see Warren’s natural leadership skills, specifically his ability bring people together. Warren might not have all the answers, Kerry said, but he would listen to all ideas and rely on other people to help make decisions.
“He’ll get people to feel good about making these choices and making democracy work,” Kerry said.
