4. Yes, this place really is.

I am putting together my New Year's Resolutions, and it was to cut way down in posting on blogs, since it largely turns into flame wars these days and is basically a waste of time. So no more GDP or Kos for me. I need a break! But I don't feel the need to stop posting here, because it is a really positive experience where we really do debate the issues in a civil way (sure we have had flame wars, but it still is pretty rare) and have fun doing it.

OT but I realize I don't like posting on the bigger forums here due to the "Unrecommend" function. I thought it was supposed to be for really bad threads, but people are abusing it. I wrote a very positve post about Kerry's remarks on how to fight terrorism, and the recs stalled because people kept unrecing it. I think the unrecommend function needs to be transparent or kill it. As in like on Kos with troll ratings, you are limited in how many you can use AND everyone can see where you troll rated. That way the abusers would be exposed. As is, it is no longer worth posting since it is impossible to work one's way up on the Greatest Page if trolls and bitter people unrec a non-flame war post.

5. Happy New Year, everyone!

I learn so much from you all every day. This is a refuge where I know I will find sanity, strong ideals (and we all know that those two things are often entirely separated in much of the blogosphere!) and decent, kind hearts. First site I access whenever I open a browser. May this be a year of hope, health and happiness for all and for our country and our world. I know JK and THK will be working as hard as usual to help that happen and all of us here will be, too.

2009 was quite the year - not the best year ever on a personal level, but all ended well. I've really taken a major break from politics and am concentrating much more on my photography, but I still check in here daily to see what's up with my favorite senator and my favorite people on the internets. :grouphug: I wish you all the very best in 2010!

Thank you all for the comments in a different thread it has been a hard December. My friend's son is still in the
hospital but his creatinine levels are looking better and hopefully he will recover with no future problems. No news on who murdered my son's drummer, very sad, terrible blow to my son and his band.

May 2010 bring everyone joy,prosperity and happiness.

16. 3 days late and a lot of dollars short, but Happy New Year!

I had my daughter come visit from tech school so I didn't have a lot of online time.
