OT, but can anybody explain to me why Democrats want to eat their youngs.

The GOP is currently pimping the chances of their guy, even if he is losing in every single poll but one. This is what it is about. Mobilizing their guys. Raising money. Campaigning.

However, though their candidate is better placed in the polls, Democrats are engaging in their favorite exercise: thinking about what would happen should their candidate lose. This is driving me crazy, because it is not helpful, and on the contrary demobilizing.

Should we not be campaigning for her, raising money, calling people, making clear who Scott Brown is (thanks to the MA Democratic Party for making this clear), rather than whining like some are doing on the blogs.


This is driving me crazy. A loser mentality even if we are not losing.

I am sorry but I have been reading comments on dailykos saying Obama equals Bush, is just as bad as him, etc. They are an anti-social irrational crowd, so throwing Coakley under the bus is really just a side event for them. I saw a writer on Twitter equate her campaign to Creigh Deeds. I'm sorry, is Coakley consistently 15 points down in the polls like Deeds was? Is Coakley repeating right wing talking points about Obama?

has started to get active now. BC coming here for a fundraiser, phonebanks being set up, DNC putting 600k worth of ad money up, all that helps.
The truth is though, Martha Coakley made a mistake by laying low after the primaries. The campaign sat on what they thought was an insurmountable lead and name recognition. They did not take repub/teabagger passion into account. Brown raised 1.3 Million dollars in 24 hours. The national media has taken an interest and is practically salivating at the prospect of an upset. Brown now has close to the same name recognition Coakley has. There was no need for the last minute scramble if Coakley had stayed on the offensive and alert. It's not like the campaign was broke.

14. Complacency kills Democrats

as does over-confidence. Finding that balance, the sense of urgency and desire to vote, is how we win. Plus I sometimes think half this hysteria is all just to raise money. People are motivated differently and clearly there's a chunk of the Demoratic Party that love high anxiety. Maybe campaign strategists know that.
