I had pretty much stayed out of the FDL furor, maybe making a comment about the sheer wrongness of teaming up with Norquist, but other than that, I never got in.
This morning, I stumbled on a couple of links that make the health care hand-wringing look sane:
Progressives, please defeat Coakley --
WTF?!?!?Another slam at JK that completely twists around his positive messagefor Martha. "Fear of people who hang teabags from their rearview mirrors"...
fear?!? :banghead:
You might not want to look at those if you're either overwhelmed by the bile, or you fear you might jinx Coakley.
Here's JK's original positive message (cribbed from the FDL site):
J.B. Poersch at the DSCC believes this election is going to be decided by just a handful of votes. That’s why we must get every last Democrat out to vote for Martha Coakley, and we need your help.
The far right wing – the out-of-state teabagger crowd – has invaded Massachusetts. Republican Scott Brown is trying to deny his relationship with them – but that’s a little hard to do when he’s speaking at their events, and they’re touting his promise to be the 41st senator needed to kill health care reform. And they are raising money to help Brown – more than $1 million in one day.
Electing Martha means even more than giving Massachusetts a capable leader to carry on the fights that meant everything to Sen. Kennedy. It means standing up to the big insurance companies and the big banks and passing health care reform, financial reform and the rest of President Obama’s agenda. We’ve got 72 hours. Let’s make this happen.
I am now converted-- FDL no more, for me. What a shame. It used to be a great site. Whatever we must do to advance a progressive agenda, saying "I'm taking my ball and going home" is NOT the way to do it. And I can promise you that whatever JK is feeling about the teabaggers... "fear" ain't any part of it. (He's probably too busy laughing, actually.)
Thanks again for the wonderful, uplifting pictures of the Coakley rally.
