Senator John Kerry, D-Mass., lead author of the Senate’s comprehensive climate change legislation, today applauded the Obama Administration’s announcement establishing a new federal agency to study and report the facts of global warming.
Senator Kerry first introduced the legislation to create the National Climate Service in the 110th Congress along with co-sponsor Senator Olympia Snowe (R-Maine.)
“The National Climate Service will provide essential climate change forecasting and create a trusted network to deliver that information to the public,” said Kerry. “We must ensure the American people can learn the real story of the effects of climate change in our everyday lives – from our neighborhoods and businesses to our security and our families. I applaud Secretary Locke and Administrator Lubchenco for their continued commitment to ensure that facts of the climate crisis are heard above the fringe of naysayers and science deniers.”
