Video every Democrat should watch in this midterm year
If we really want to see the way to stand up and tell the truth to the American people all the time, this is the classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1-ye5OG7_8 (think this is in four parts)

JK at the New Hampshire Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, October 13,2006. Some of you were there!

Fired up doesn't even begin to describe it!!!

1. Yes, yes, that was an absolutely wonderful event.
It was a good time-before the BS hit the fan, and there was still the prospect that he would attempt another run again for President.

2. Yes, it was an exciting time - and there really was no one better than the Kerry of those videos
I still think he would have made the best President - and I like Obama.

In retrospect, Kerry running would have been very very tough. It is clear that Obama succeeded partially because he was bale to get people to know him before the Clintons attacked - even with a kindergarten essay. With Kerry, he was seen as a threat from the day after he lost. As it was they tried to ridicule him - even when he was taking principled stands, like on Alito and Kerry/Feingold. A primary of Clinton vs Kerry would have been ugly. Maybe as ugly as the 2004 general election and it would have started early.

Obama was able to run by having others, like Kerry, defend him calling the Clintons on unfair attacks, but without really attacking the Clintons personally with all that could have been used.

On a different note, I look at the video differently now. Anger, especially the moral, controlled anger that focuses on solutions is very compelling when it matches the anger at the government of the listeners. We really have to hope that the Republicans do not have someone as capable of shaping their values and solutions fired by anger at the way things have become. It is not the party controlling both Houses and the Presidency that can run with type of anger.

But, we can't run on the pure dreamy hope message - I think what we need to do is get people to really see that what Obama did is take an economy falling off the cliff and turn it back - it is still weak, but we are not losing 900,000 jobs a month. The media has not helped - they pretty much ignored that the market that they covered in gory detail falling to its low has had an amazing recovery - though it's not 100% back to where it was - which makes sense as part of that was bogus to begin with. We may have all combat troops out of Iraq by the election and people should be able to see through the Republicans disgraceful attempt to use the Christmas bomber. I am glad that Brenner came out and said that people like Boehner and McConnell were told the guy was speaking.
