Lee Whitnum, who is best known for publicizing her early 1990s fling with a then-single Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) has filed to run as a Democrat for Senate in Connecticut.

Whitnum ran for the Democratic nomination in Connecticut's 4th House district in 2008, but lost miserably to now-Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), who took 87 percent of the vote in the primary.

Now she's filed to run in the primary for the open seat against frontrunner Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, as well as a couple other little-known Democratic candidates.

The "couple of other little known Democratic candidates are likely to get more votes - as they all lose badly to Blumenthal.

I was thinking that perhaps the Kerry mention was a way to gain her some extra publicity and name recognition.
