2. Plouffe is probably extraordinarily good
at what he is doing, but based on the couple of times (at most) that I saw him on TV, being in front of a camera does not seem to be his forte. But I'll watch, waiting for the action in the House to begin.

Anybody knows what Plouffe (what a funny name!) has been doing with himself for the almost a year he has been under the radar. Writing a book, I know about that, but that was not a full time job for somebody like him...

3. Rove was of course awful.
He's a liar, and rude. And, above all, so JUVENILE.
Plouffe seemed not to have the whatever-it-takes to shout him down.(He did get in some good points, but he was way way too quiet and polite. .like his boss, he seems not to have the stomach for shouting matches. Understandable, but someone like Rove DOES seem to need to be shouted down)
.. the situation was not helped by the inept moderator.

5. What you said - my impression was exactly the same
The moderator seemed nice, but was completely unable to stop Rove.

But, I tried (as did my husband) to try to see what a non-partisan would see here. I agree that Pouffle completely did not try to match Rove's hyperactive talking points. But, his speedy run though of all the numbers and what they were, with a shiny often unreadable white board was likely too much, too fast, with too many terms known only to people already following this obsessively, was likely very effectively countered by Pouffle saying that the official numbers from the non-partisan economists in CBO was what it was.

The moderator did help in one way - the snips he picked of Obama were excellent.

4. I guess I am wondering why you bother to watch?
As Jay Rosen repeatedly says, these Sunday programs are about the "Church of the Savvy". Reporters don't care about the truth, character, decency, etc. They only care about presenting both sides like a sporting event, then opining on who is "winning the day". I suggest you boycott these programs .... forever. They are useless. Actually less than useless as they give scumbags like Karl Rove a platform to spread their vile untruthful BS to a network audience.

Jay Rosen is currently giving it to Jake Tapper on how bad This Week is and on how it could be improved (Jake will host the show starting next week).

Seriously, when media does a bad job, why reward them with ratings? Skip the Sunday shows. Anything noteworthy will be captured and spread virally on the internet. The rest can be discarded and ignored as the usual stupid inside the beltway (a la ESPN Sportscenter) rubbish.

7. Yup. I have even given up watching Kerry on those shows.
They interrupt him or ask silly uninteresting questions. I prefer it when he is at an event and there is a Q & A portion. "Real America" always asks more interesting thought provoking questions than inside the bubble DC journalists.

Heh -- I just stole Sarah Palin's country!

8. To see them directly and not through somebody else's eyes.
I agree with your criticisms, but the problem is that other people report on this, and people end up having a twisted view of what was actually said.

I dont watch them, but I am often bothered by the very viral view of the Internet that is often skewed and out of context (including when Republicans are attacked). I like to think by myself and not through somebody else.

9. This clip is all I can take of Rove:
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/03/rove-loses-it.html

I'm glad I didn't sacrifice an hour for a Sunday show and only had to watch 1:46 vid to get the best part. Rove uses this "denigrate the troops" device all the time. I saw him in person do it to Max Cleland who shut down for the rest of the debate, because it was just so hurtful after all he has been through. Seeing Rove using it again against someone associated with a successful WH really shows how pathetic a ploy it is.

I really do think we got context there. But you are correct that sometimes people go after a politician for what they said for which if you saw the whole thing it wasn't that bad. I am really not that interested in the Monday Morning "Gotcha" stuff and agree that it is unfair to a lot of politicians, Dems and Repubs alike.

10. I will never forget it
Rove or Jeb Bush should of not even been on that panel. Boy I will never forget the evil stares we got that day. Rove doesn't respect our veterans he uses them as they use God for their reckless agenda, dispicable. He is nothing but a cowardly bastard.
