Senator John Kerry plans to get a first-hand look at some of the recent flooding damage in Massachusetts.
Kerry is scheduled to inspect homes and businesses in Clinton on Sunday. The town in the central part of the state was among the hardest hit by the ten inches of rain that fell over the course of three days earlier this month, prompting Gov. Deval Patrick to declare an emergency.
Kerry will be joined on the tour by U.S. Rep. James McGovern, along with state and local officials.
The Massachusetts congressional delegation has asked President Barack Obama to support the state's request for a disaster declaration that could provide federal funding for owners of homes and businesses damaged by the floods.
