OT - I can't believe things like this will not lead to buyer's remorse over the OTHER Senator
http://www.boston.com/ae/celebrity/articles/2010/04/01/when_art_imitates_life/ Uhm, I remember Tay Tay's comments that MA is sensitive when they are embarrassed by a Senator - that photo is far more embarrassing than his youthful modelling or than ALL Kerry's bad jokes - ever added together - but maybe less than him saying that the guy who flew a plane into a building was motivated by the same anger as his voters. Wonkette was predictably awful - http://wonkette.com/414582/scott-brown-feted-with-balls

1. Yikes!
Before I even read the comments in the Wonkette piece I couldn't help but notice where Brown's eyes were focused. Was he really staring at fake Brown's package? Oy

But Karyn, if Mass folks are anything like our media lately, or are in any way influenced by them, they love style over substance these days. Scotty is revered for all the things he portrays and none of the things he actually does. Whenever he so much as opens his mouth to vomit garbage....uh I mean to spill his pearls of wisdom it gets extensive coverage on the evening news. Senator Kerry - not so much. Nary a mention of his trip, for example. Yes, we only have one senator left, and his name is Brown.

3. The problem is that the media are in the hands of RWers.
Did you see Keller commenting on Obama's visit to MEMA? He could not decide whether to be positive and bash Patrick for not having had as much empathy during the snow storm of 2007, or whether to criticize the fact that, because of this visit, the federal govt got to take part of the travel costs on Air Force 1 and Mariner 1. These guys are real tools.

7. I can't watch Keller
He's a puffed-up insignificant jerk who does nothing but spit venom about people who actually work for a living and accomplish things that matter.

5. Wish I could disagree
In this media climate, I'm afraid Brown will just be seen as "a good sport" for attending the equivalent of a roast and good-naturedly accepting ridicule. OTOH, I think many MA voters are feeling buyer's remorse because they're looking at what he's actually doing/not doing in DC.

8. He is a real waste. He doesn't even know enough to decline to attend.
Even for a Republican this is bad.

9. You know what really makes me made about this? One Senator is doing all the serious
work for the state and is working hard for the nation, and the other is just all about photo-ops. The Herald should be all over this the way they still ridicule Senator Kerry for seeking to much camera time-which is not true. I suppose the same rules don't apply to snap shot Scott.

10. The way the Globe portrays it, it makes Brown look like a good sport.

It doesn't say the stuff about the play that Wonkette does.

I guess I don't get why you all are outraged.

This will not make the people who voted for Brown hate him. This is why they like him.

11. The picture of him proudly displaying the program in the Globe
- there's just something almost exhibitionist in that. I don't think it would make them hate him, just that they would see it as embarrassing.

19. And yet
imagine how the RW would react if Brown stayed away from this sort of thing, but admitted to being openly gay? So many double standards.

13. I agree with you
He looks like he can take a joke and if he's going to have any future success, that's what he's got to turn that photo into, a big joke from the past.

15. I am not outraged, just disgusted with what passes as important news
and important people. Frankly, I think Brown has no class and represents the Senate poorly. You would think he would want to move past that picture and receive recognition for something actually important. And, you know if a Democrat had posed like he did, the Republicans would not let it rest. I honestly can not understand how macho men in pick-up trucks who wear barn jackets could not be embarrassed by that picture of Brown.

14. Let's see
Senator Pickuptruck has had NO clue what was in the health care bill (why read it?) ... and has made a total jerk of himself with his fund-raising campaign using Rachel Maddow as his pretend opponent. I read the comments in the Globe after an article about Rachel Maddow. It was interesting. There were the usual collection of right-wing trolls, but MANY comments showed voters with a very low opinion of the very junior senator from Massachusetts.

And just how good a job is Senator Pickuptruck doing for his constituents? Has he connected his phone line yet? His email?

People accustomed to the responsiveness of Teddy and John Kerry can't be happy with a good-looking dolt who couldn't care less about actually providing support to the people who elected him.

17. Scott Brown is a parody of himself.
Can't think of an incident that illustrates this better than the OP.

20. Actually this does help, I agree
MA voters LOVE someone with a sense of humor. This goes to showing that Brown can take a joke about himself. It is a positive.

I think Brown is vulnerable on the issues. However, 2012 is a long, long ways away. I think that his voting record will become a liability over time as well as the entitled attitude he seems to have adopted lately.
