OT: I will not be voting this November
for my representative Glenn Nye. I can't, he votes against everything I stand for as a Democrat. He voted against healthcare, he is for extending the tax cuts for the top, he is for drilling and he is going to a Tea Party Convention in Richmond next month. He stood with then Senator Barack Obama in '08 and now he has turned his back on all of us. I cannot vote for this non-Democrat, he hardly admits to being a Democrat anymore. So come November if there is nothing else to vote for I will be sitting this one out.

1. I think he is doing all of this to get reelected. He is still a Democrat,
and there should be some ideals you both share. It is hard for Congressional Dem's right now, and he might feel what he is doing is the best way to get reelected and then continue to serve Democrat voters like yourself.

2. Wow - that is a tough thing
He really is not a Democrat. The only reason I can think of that would support voting for someone like that is if the vote is close. Then the only reason is that he will vote for Pelosi as Speaker - and control in the House could come down to one Representative - and who controls the House matters - even though with a very small margin, the Neys of the body will be critical to getting anything out. (Remember if the Republicans get in they will have supoena power - and though Obama is unlikely to give them a gift - as clinton did - it could be obnoxious.

3. View it as a vote for Pelosi to remain speaker and for Dems to control Committees

4. Agree
Profiles in cowardice and lack of priciple as some of our dems proved to be, I don't think we can afford to be too picky, the situation being the way it is.

I keep telling myself that it just cannot be as bad as almost all pundits and polls say it's going to be, but I am afraid my "gut feeling" is nothing but wishful thinking :-(

5. The pundits have a need to be proven right, so they keep pushing their predictions.
Things can change up until people cast their votes. We still have a little over a month to change some peoples minds and to get others out to vote. I think it will be better for us than what is being predicted now.

6. Right.
Fedup, would you at least consider writing in a candidate? Even someone totally unrelated to VA politics?

I don't want to suggest that you don't vote your conscience, but the idea of Dems sitting home on election day is being pushed and pushed by the media, and it's such a gut-churning. Is there any way that you can at least bring yourself to vote?

7. How do I vote
for someone who plays up to Republicans and slaps Dems in the face? This is really hard for me to say I won't vote. I have sent Nye an e-mail , but I doubt it will ever get answered as none of my other ones have. I am just sick and tired of voting for what I don't believe in. I live in Pat Robertson country or as my name states Bush country, I hate it. I also hate the charade of some politicians. I will tell you that Nye is getting hit hard by Democrats here, I guess time will tell, that is all I can hope for now.

8. That's why I suggested writing someone in.
Most states have this option, and you would at least show that Democrats are exercising their right, if not necessarily voting for the nominee.

10. I live in an area where Republicans reign and the local Democrat Party is useless.
There are Democrats here-like Rep. Jason Altmire-who voted against much of the House agenda this year and actually penned an op-ed pushing his own Health Care plan-just so he would have an excuse not to vote for the Democrats plan. He is a blue dog-wants to see the tax cuts extended for the rich and is anti-abortion. He doesn't seem like much of a Democrat, but once in a while we can count on him voting with the Democrats. If we have a Republican in that seat, we won't see any votes in our favor. Altmire is running in this election.
You have to make up your own mind I guess, but as much as I dislike Altmire, I will vote for him because he is the Democrat in the race and some of these votes he has made are because he has to run in this current environment.

9. I'm voting for Roy Barnes for Governor here in GA.
He's against the "Ground Zero Mosque" and wants GA to have an Arizona immigration type law. He sucks big time. But the governor's office is how the Democratic party is run. And Democrats have been reduced to basically a cult in the state of GA since we lost the governorship.

I am a cold ruthless calculated voter.

I suggest you reconsider. So Nye sucks. His number still counts toward whether the House switches to GOP. And the GOP are intending to start a witch hunt on Obama as soon as they are sworn in. Prevent THAT.

11. Thank you all
for listening to me. I have decided and also talked to my friends who were also not going to vote and told them the advice that I got from my wonderful friends at JK forum and we are all going to vote. It will not be easy but we will step up and vote for really the less of two evils. Thanks again for hearing me out. :grouphug:

12. DeFazio voted against the Obama Stimulus that was "full of pork"
On the top of his web site he has a graphic about the deficit. He went to rural areas and complained about Obama ending WOPR and not implementing a new logging plan. He was very vocal against the health care act and only voted for it at the last minute after some phony "concession".

If I can vote for this "progressive" knucklehead, you can vote for yours.
