This is really nice story:
Today, Royster was presented with a Congressional Gold Medal, awarded to her father posthumously, by US Senator John Kerry and Newton mayor Setti Warren in a ceremony at Newton City Hall.
"I didn't know this would be such a wonderful day," Royster said. "I've waited such a long time for this, and it has really touched my heart. I'd better sit down before I start to cry."
<snip>
The Tuskegee Airmen were honored collectively with the Congressional Gold Medal in 2007 by then-president George W. Bush, but Calhoun's name was inadvertently left off the list. Kerry and Warren said they were happy to correct the historical record.
"It's never too late to honor your heroes," Kerry said.
