The senior Democrat and Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said Sunday that they believe Pakistani officials knew al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was hiding in a compound 35 miles from the capital of Islamabad, even as President Barack Obama’s national security adviser insisted there is no intelligence to prove that.

It came after the town hall in Boston yesterday, where Kerry spoke about the intervention and Afghanistan. It seems this is the only thing the local media heard (that and the fact that Brown gave the Republican address, where he made a fool of himself with his poor delivery, but they wont tell you that).

Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said he supports President Obama’s plan to begin bringing home troops in July, but cautioned that withdrawal may not be swift nor simple.
“I, too, want those troops home,’’ said Kerry, who said he will soon travel to Afghanistan. “I think we’re keeping faith in the effort to do due diligence, in order to really look carefully at how to extricate from Afghanistan.’’
