White House Blocks Access to the Boston Herald..
Edited on Wed May-18-11 03:38 PM by ObamaKerryDem
..for the President's fundraiser in Boston today. I know this is kind of O/T too, though then again..not really. The Herald, as we all know, has been nothing short of vicious to JK for years now and hasn't been much nicer to the President. I say good on the WH! It's not like the Herald is a real newspaper...little more than a glorified tabloid that is a media arm of the Right Wing. I think the WH spokesman made a great point in the article, about how the Op-Ed over took what should've been the headline and would've been in any other, legit paper (the President being in the city of the paper in question). I give the WH a  on this!:

1. my first reaction is that they've overreacted
God knows, the BH drives me bonkers, and they have not treated either JK or BO well. But I don't think that this will necessarily do the president any good.

3. I agree 100%
The BH is bad, but this lets them play the poor victim card.

They did actually endorse Kerry in 2008.

6. They did?? Wow!
I mean I know their only other choices were Ed O'Riley and Beatty (wasn't that the name of JK's eventual GOP challenger?),lol, but still!

Objectively speaking, I must say you guys have raised some really good points. I fully admit my bias and utter distaste for the BH and media like it ruled my first and still overall reaction to this. It was like "Take THAT!" But I see what you're saying. Still think they had it coming though abd still cannot help but to feel some pretty smug satisfaction over it lol :D

2. We will see what comes from this move, but no doubt the BH deserves this action.
They are part of the problem, not the solution.

4. It is a stupid move. Yes, BH is a RW tabloid, but are they going to forbid
every RW paper.

In the meantime, this allows Mitt Romney (who the way it goes will likely be the Republican candidate) to pose himself as defender of the free media and csays Obama is thin skin. Not the best idea they had.

BTW, as bad as the Herald is politically, he is a legitimate source of news in Boston, and in some respect better than the Globe)
