There are some articles laughing at the flip flop, but I really see none buying Glenn Johnson's view that Kerry tried to hide his changing opinion.
The Politico article, if read, really makes the Boston Globe look silly - not Kerry. Even if ALL Kerry had done was to respond "yes" to the Boston Globe, there is no logic to their view that he tried to change his position quietly.
That he went beyond that and wrote an oped, that specifically speaks of his earlier position and his evolution is already a step beyond what anyone else would have had to do.
But, the record is actually even clearer, the Boston Globe has reported in the past about the assistance given a Brazilian national to allow him to stay in with his MA spouse. This is a pretty strong action and he stayed on it through many twists and turns. He also publicly supported at least one of the law suits against DOMA - something the Boston Globe reported. In addition, Kerry signed on to sponsor the bill that repeals DOMA - and the Boston Globe covered Kerry's approval of the Obama decision not to defend DOMA (
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2011/02/brown_critical_1.html ) where his position is completely unambiguous.
Not to mention, our own Noisy Democrat, got video of what was very likely Kerry's first public statement that he was for marriage equity.
http://www.jkmediasource.org/node/158 There was Kerry giving his position - less comfortably that his simple "yes" to the BG, but he responded.
Imagine Noisy Democrat beat the Boston Globe on this scoop by almost 3 years.
