The Boston Globe (Vennochi in this case) strikes again.
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 08:43 PM by Mass
I will not post here this editorial as it is too idiotic, but, once again, she writes about how neither Brown nor Kerry are Kennedy, how both lack passion, and accuses Kerry of doing that to please the WH and caring only about foreign policy (sadly, this type of criticism may be having some weight).

I had regained a modicum of respect for Vennochi, but it seems that my stack is empty right now. Joannie, the country is ready to default on its obligations and this is all you have to write about. Really, she joined Glenn Johnson in the list of those writers the Globe should fire.

The Globe will never stop being a disappointment. Joan, now is the time to go after the GOP, not to worry if Kerry is too faithful to Obama to be a good senator. F*ck you.

1. OK, I read it.

Infuriating. Outrageous. She's stubbornly blind and obtuse. And stupid. And in this week, of all weeks, when JK is getting comment from all quarters on -- YES-- his passion, commitment and wisdom (even on DU! someone "out there" just characterized his latest speech as "eloquent and wise" )

:nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke:v:nuke:

2. May be she only reads the Globe for her news?

I agree, it is totally outrageous.

3. Me too - ditto on your and Mass' comments
I think she also does disservice to Kennedy. You can't find solutions on the extremes - no matter how passionate you are. Kennedy passed legislation because - like Kerry is trying for now - he made compromises.

In fact, in 1997, it was Kennedy, who too Kerry/Kennedy and made major changes to it to get Hatch on board. Kerry/Kennedy was a better plan for a national program - SCHIP allows each state to design and implement its own version. SCHIP was better because it was able to pass, where the precursor bill couldn't.

Kennedy, himself, praised Kerry's eloquence and passion in one of his last speeches on the Alito filibuster. That was HIS word - and I assume that Kennedy was a hell of lot more aware than Joan Vennoci. Not to mention, many mentioned Kerry's passion on both his attempt to get climate change legislation and on his infrastructure initiative. (Not to mention the first time the country saw Kerry it was his full of passion speech.

If she expects Brown to ever show passion, she might have to wait a long time. Passion rarely starts with not being sure what your position is.

4. I think the press is passing the buck and blaming politicians for a lot of what is going on-rather
then their poor reporting to the American people and their own political games.

8. You are spot on
This is just one more time that I would appreciate it if the press (both print and TV) had the decency to hang their heads in shame for the appallingly shallow and stupid ways they have handled this "story."

I couldn't bring myself to read Venocchi this morning. She is usually inappropriate in her comments, and I just didn't need her this weekend.
