1. Yay Kerry 2014!! :)
Edited on Thu Aug-04-11 03:24 PM by ObamaKerryDem
I am so excited to hear this coming directly from him (though I personally am not really surprised as the Symphony Hall event in December seemed to indicate it..). Sure, '14 is, especially in political terms, a long way off yet and anything could happen (including the SOS position), but it is nice to hear directly from JK where his head/heart are at with this, amid all the rumors. And while I think he'd make an excellent SOS, I'd love to see him stay on as Senator, too. He is doing Teddy proud--along with all of us.

I have little doubt that he'll win again, though if this does move ahead as planned, I plan to do whatever I can to help him get re-elected! Aside from Obama '12 (and the hopeful removal of Brown!), this is the election I am most pumped up for! :)

2. Good to see even if this is incredibly early. I wonder how much of this announcement is
to tell those who may be sitting 2012 out hoping for his seat to get free that they have to jump in the 2012 race or forget becoming senator (with one seat less next year in the House).

3. I'd had the more banal thought that this was just a
reply to the persistent questions on SOS, to try to shut them up. But I also find your view very interesting, and I hope all the Dem MA-senate-wanna-bes get the same message. Come on, Dems, don't wait around for Kerry's seat: put your energy into 2012-- have the guts to do your all to get Brown out of there!

4. Don't have dogs and cats in this fight,
but do wish Senator Kerry all the best.

And hoping that communities of color will rally round him like they did for the late Senator Kennedy. Hopefully also true progressives will come around.

Also best wishes in winning back Brownie's seat and to the nominee.

:hi:

5. All of us have an interest in this race - given the function of the group
Given that Kerry got 2/3rds of the vote in 2008 - similar to the amount Kennedy got, I suspect that he got both the progressives and the various communities of color.

6. It's a national race

Just adding 2 cents and was speaking in terms of as a non-MA resident that only votes in TN and letting the good people in this group do the rest.

Senator Kerry did get similar votes from communities of color like Kennedy did, it just seems like the latter had more vocal support.

It speaks volumes that the Senator still wants to serve the people of MA, but it also has to be frustrating to him and his staff to hear the constant griping in.. you are not or doing things like _______, if ______ was alive, he'd fight, etc., then have a one of the Senate candidates crowned the new Liberal Lion, then be compared to the lowlife Romney, but more power to him and wish him the best.

edit "to" for "do"

7. I do not think your fear is substantiated.

They have been there for many, many years. It is hard to see why they would not be there in 2014.

At this point, I am more concerned by turning out all votes possible for whom is opposing Brown. Some votes were not there for Coakley, and they need to turn in.

8. That is what counts
If all turn out, Democrats will win (hopefully without the shenanigans).
