Quiet in the Senate? Not shaping debate? Senator Kerry contributed several thoughtful, passionate Senate speeches to the debt-ceiling debate, and on MSNBC, he offered a tough, insightful, heartfelt analysis of the problem. Last month The New York Times documented Kerry’s important contributions to foreign policy, noting also how impressively he has pushed past his 2004 presidential loss, returning to his work for Massachusetts and the Senate with renewed effectiveness, commitment, and determination.
Despite double hip replacements, he was set to bike again this weekend in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a physical test even for many people one-third his age. All this, and regular town meetings for Massachusetts citizens, advocacy for veterans, fishermen, environmental and infrastructure issues, and more.
In a July 25 US News & World Report article, a friend observed that Kerry “does more before breakfast than some senators do all day." What more does he need to do to reach Vennochi’s consciousness? Walk on water?
Positive comments would probably useful as I expect the bile to start flowing any minute...
