I was going to say JK squared, but Jon Kyl does not come close to equaling JK. (As they are both on the supercommittee this should be interesting. Obviously, they must be at a point where Kerry is willing to state his positions.

Specifics aside, Democrats have never sounded less hopeful.

Dem co-chair Patty Murray said “it does not meet — even come close to coming to meet — the issues we have set out from the beginning: fair and balanced.”

Sen. John Kerry — who almost always claims to be hopeful for the committee — now says things look pretty grim. “If you’re going to ask every average American who drives a car, goes to work, struggles each day to pay their bill — if they’re going to somehow be part of the solution, to have something on the table that does not ask the wealthiest people in the country to share in it would be unconscionable,” Kerry said. “So this is the divide now. We’re still working. I hope we can get there. But I don’t know at this point.”

4. I got to watch Senator Kerry this morning on Meet the Press-

I thought he gave a very good assessment of what has been going on. He seemed angry over the Republicans' stubbornness and unwillingness to forgo the Bush tax cuts-even for right now. And, I think he is disappointed at how this is going to turn out. After watching the Senator, I think it is safe to say, the committee will not reach an agreement by the deadline. He then defended the President on the RW talking point that the President has not been hands on, saying this is what the Republicans wanted, claiming his involvement would make it political, and the administration had been in touch with the members of the committee consistently.
Oh, and of course, there was the comparison of the 2004 campaign with the one it is suggested the Dems will deploy against Romney, if he is the Republican nominee for President, in 2012. Senator Kerry said he hadn't had time to follow what was going on in Republican or Democratic politics right now, but defended himself eloquently once again, against the suggestion that he was a flip flopper. He said his vote for and against was based on principal, and then suggested that Romney would have to defend and explain all his changes in opinions.

...wisteria. I am glad he was angry...it's cathartic. I'm angry, too.

I'm glad he pointed out the fact that the GOP swore allegiance to a lobbyist (Grover Norquist) while he swore allegiance to doing the work the American people expect of their representatives in Congress. It is time...PAST time... for Republicans to be called out on their despicable behavior.

He was eloquent on all the points you mentioned, including defending the President. He couldn't have done better if he were President himself... ;)

lot more than he interrupted Kyl.

9. He becomes more blantant by the year

There was a point, back when Bush was President that you could not tell what his politics were - definitely not the case here.

The lead in to the question on the Democrats on entitlements was pathetic - when ALL of us show the many threads that blasted the Democrats for considering anything. There was no such push back against Kyl - also, it is interesting that they were not together but following each other as segments.

11. I also thought that the fact that they did not

engage in a direct dialogue spoke volumes. They were both in the studio, weren't they? I just could not understand at the beginning when Gregory kept talking to Kyl and seemed to completely ignore Kerry. And then I realized that it was not meant to be a 3-way conversation.

My summary: Kyl was his usual despicable self, Kerry was very good, also angry as noted above, also he looked to me to be very tired.

Unless the info in teh tweet is not complete, I find it kind of interesting that the co-chairs aer not there. And again, I have no idea what it may mean.... maybe they just met for coffee and Patty Murray and what's his name do not like coffee :-)
