http://www.theunionleader.com/articles_showfast.html?article=55744This is what passes for rethuglican wit:
Viewed as a potential Republican Presidential candidate in 2008, Romney joked about the differences between Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts, alluding to the small number of Republicans in his state, missing mobster Whitey Bulger, the Big Dig and Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry.
"In Washington, Code Orange means there is a terror alert. Code Orange in Massachusetts means John Kerry just got out of another tanning booth," Romney said.
On his qualifications for national office:
Romney was praised by U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg and U.S. Rep. Charles Bass, who attended the event along with former Gov. John H. Sununu and Executive Councilors Ray Wieczorek of Manchester and Ruth Griffin of Portsmouth.
Griffin introduced the governor and alluded to his "good looks," saying: "Gov. Romney, you are really easy on the eyes."
Romney is expected to seek his second term as Massachusetts governor in 2006.
Could have fooled me.
