Pelosi shivs Dean? Public flogging? What the fuck is wrong with these idiots?

My problem with Dean's idiotic comments:

Despite some reservations, we at LUTD have stayed on top of Chairman Dean’s talking points and direction for the party. We posted in support of his approach to the abortion issue. We posted in support of the agenda he spoke about on Meet the Press, even though we were disappointed that it was overshadowed by unnecessary sensationalism. And I’m pretty sure we posted in support of reaching out to evangelical Democrats as well.

When Chairman Dean said we needed to run 50 state campaigns, we thought he understood that many of these states were made up of white Christians who vote Republican against their better economic interest; and against their moral values in many instances, as well.

But the last few days, Chairman Dean seems to have drawn battle lines with these folks, first saying “Most Republicans have never made an honest living in their lives” and over the weekend, saying the Republicans are a “white Christian party”. This, following on the heels of, “I hate Republicans”.

Now I’m game for whatever direction the Democratic Party wants to go. Speaking only for myself here, if we want to go all Bullworth on their asses, I’m in. But it’s not going to play in Topeka. So if hating the rich white Christian male party is what we’re going to hang our hopes on, we need to stop dumping money into those red states.

Despite the fact that I enjoy a little brouhaha, I do think embracing the Wallis approach makes more sense. We need to express the Democratic values that come from our sense of a loving God that is just and tolerant, embraces all humans, and delights in reasoned thought.

I thought that’s what we were doing a couple of months ago. Now I don’t know. When it comes to Dean’s path of divinity for the Democratic Party, it appears we at Light Up The Darkness are fumbling in the dark. Anyone who knows which direction we’re supposed to be headed, feel free to shine a little light.

I can't believe the absolute nonsense that gets posted on DU.

The Dean wars are starting all over again - I've never understood these people and I suspect I never will.

As another poster said, "Dean puts his boot in his mouth and then follows it with a shoehorn".

What is it with these people? How dare anyone even breath a hint of criticism at their godlike leader?

there's plenty of anecdotal evidence that Dean's acolytes cost him in Iowa just as much as Dean himself. And here it's all happening again.
Only this time it's not just Dean they're hurting, it's the party.

Yes, I heard the same around HQ here in Wisconsin. Deaniacs, long on enthusiasm, but clueless as all hell, and as Tay said, they made it about them and what Dean meant to them instead of finding out what Iowa folk thought was important.

2. Actually the word was "some" not "most"

and some Republicans indeed have never worked a day in their lives. Like Poppy Bush for example. I think he was trying to say they're out of touch. But he could have put it better. Who knows, it might have sounded better in person. And the media has a magnifying glass on him.

But I just wrote a post addressing the language. Shiv? Bash? If it was allowable to criticize Kerry, it's allowable to criticize Dean. He is not Jesus.

4. It's just reinforces the negative view of Dean

this is very unfortunate. Gov Dean has shown that he is capable of bringing into the Democratic Party a new group of people. This is laudable. Some of the Gov's supporters are less then helpful with these gaffes though.

SNL used to have this skit in the late '80's that showed a group of Chicago fans sitting around praising Coach Ditka of the Chicago Bears. The fans would out do themselves saying all the things that the godly Ditka could do. Some of the Dean supporters remind me of this skit. ("Da Dean. He could take out the whole Republican Senate just by himself and still have time to come back and Bar-B-Que great ribs.")

I did not support Gov Dean in his Pres run. That's now water under the bridge. I don't understand how some of the more ardent supporters of the Gov expect to get people to commit to him as Chairman and get behind his reforms when they trash other people in their rush to defend Dean. It is counter-productive. It makes me less likely to contribute to the DNC and more likely to make any donations only through the PAC of a Dem I like. I don't think the ardent Dean supporters are thinking this through.

5. Actually, it was "alot of them"

Point being, what's this kind of rhetoric got to do with those white folks who work for a living and drive around with Confederate Flags in their trucks? Nada. I thought we were spending millions trying to reach out to these people. They aren't interested in this kind of class warfare, they rejected it 20 years ago.
