I need a RANT thread!
Why oh why do all the Repub senators have to speak with the TONE of a disapproving father scolding a child??? As if the Dems are so hopelessly stupid and misguided that they must be disciplined! I could just scream. I like to have Cspan2 on in the background in case something happens, but this droning on in such a condescending way is making me have fits!

Feel free to add your own rants of the day!!

1. I may as well take a turn...
Whats the big deal people are making about Howard Deans statements and Harry Reids statements? So what Harry Reid called President Bush a loser, and a liar. If you ask me, Senator Reid isn't saying something all us Democrats aren't thinking. Sure, some of it's extreme, but I would rather have a Senator thats hard on the Republicans and this administration then a Joe Lieberman whose a opportunist and a republican lite.

I don't agree with Howard Deans statements a lot of the times, and I wish he would tone things down. I mean I understand this isn't helping our chances, when we are being seen as the negative party that just says no about everything. Dean's comments are both dumb, and out of tone of the message we need to have. But why are the Republicans trying to spin this? There running away from the issues. They want to twist and turn, and misuse the Democrats statements to get the American people on board with their radical agenda that otherwise the average America wouldn't get on board with.

Changing the message, and avoiding the issues isn't going to get them anywhere. Focus on healthcare, immigration, economy, or education. Not Howard Dean and Harry Reids statements, or the filibuster. There are more important issues, and I'm thankful for John Kerry's leadership on other important issues like healthcare, small business, and supporting the soldiers in Iraq. John Kerry isn't giving into the Republicans trap. John Kerry's staying on message, and is everything we need in our party. He's on message, on tone, and working for America.

2. I wrote the other day

(don't remember where - maybe you saw it) that if I had to listen to Frist stand up one more time and say in that prissy schoolmarm manner of his ONE MORE TIME the words "up-or-down-vote", I thought I might turn violent.

I've taken to muting every time a repug steps up to speak. Isn't that a truly sad state of affairs? I'm old enough to remember a time when the man and his personal integrity mattered more than what party he belonged to. Sometimes I wonder how the dems can stand to be there. It must be taking a toll.

I say, thank god for rants. Hooray for righteous anger!!! It's a thousand times preferable to its dark cousins, resignation and sepression.

3. Frist is the worst!
Schoolmarm is right! I hate his expressions and tone. And you don't miss anything when you mute them, because they all say the same thing! I must have missed that post of yours, but I agree! :nuke:

4. My turn!
You know this is gonna be bad, because I'm gonna ride the capslock like a gas pedal!

I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK UP A RAT'S ARSE WHAT LATEST FROTH CAME OUT OF HOWARD DEAN'S MOUTH. NOR DO I GIVE A SIDEWAYS SCREW WITH A CHAINSAW WHAT JOE BIDEN, JOHN EDWARDS, BILL RICHARDSON, BARACK OBAMA, OR ANYBODY ELSE UP TO AND INCLUDING JON STEWART, OPRAH, BONO, KARL ROVE, KOS, OR TRIUMPH THE INSULT COMIC DOG HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT. although I AM grateful to any and all relevant Powers that Kerry is not yet on record making any statement in any way, because if you think the fur and popcorn is flying now, hoo boy...THIS IS LIKE POLITICS AS GODAWFUL COCKTAIL PARTY YOU CAN'T WAIT TO GET AWAY FROM. SNARK SNARK SNARK SNARK. IT'S LIKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GIRLS' BATHROOM CONVERSATION REPEATED OUT OF CONTEXT ON CNN 24-FUCKING-7.

Thank you. I feel 20 pounds lighter. :D

Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 08:02 PM by whometense
I keed.

I actually did hear - somewhere - that Kerry had been asked about Dean's remarks. He seems to have handled it in a very effective way - low key. Something like, well, that's Howard's way of putting it. I might have said it differently, but...

Evidently that was enough to get him off the hook.

Fine, fine rant, btw.

Thought of something else I wanted to say. Who ARE these people? DO they have a life? A family? A job? And who the f*** made them king of the democrats, anyway?? It's the friggin' thought police for christ's sake.

But I feel for Obama and Biden especially Biden, Biden has been really great lately and they're calling him spineless, Biden in the past month has been a strong opponent of the nuclear opition, John Bolton, and most recently gitmo bay. Hes a little too hawkish for me still but for those people to call him spineless because he wouldnt accept Dean's statement as gospel is jsut insulting and makes me angry, unlike them I actually have seen Joe Biden speak on the senate floor, Biden was more passionate than one of their heroes, Senator Byrd on the nuclear opition and he told us in the gallery just how extremeist they were. I am not a Biden fan but the way he is being treated for a very mild criticism of Dean is disgusting, don't they realize that Biden also said he thought Dean was doing a good job as chair, and they will label any opponent of Dean DLC, and lemme say it, not everyone in the party who will criticize Dean is the DLC, I am critical of him and I am anything but DLC. Its amazing to me that they're using Ronald Reagan's Thou Shall Not Attack A Fellow Democrat in our case philosophy since they are attacking other democrats in defense of Dean and have always been jerks to the other Dems who arent Dean. I Dont believe we should stand blindly and not criticial. Sorry, I ranted again but I am angry.

5. I ranted yesterday about the Jr Sen from VA
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 07:55 PM by TayTay
I would rather have teeth pulled than listen to that man wrestle a thought in submission.

Sen. Lamar Alexander's speeches play on an endless loop in hell's waiting room. Just that droning, monotone going on and on and on about windmills. Please Gawd, just kill me. I can't take it.

Sen. Frist just seems like a mortician. I see him and my first thought is, "Oh no, who died." He has that slow, deliberate manner that all good undertakers have. "So sorry for your loss of civil rights. How did they die?" Then he pays no attention at all and tries to sell you something that you are only going to see once and then throw into a hole and cover over.

Orrin Hatch is the best snake oil salesman ever in the Senate. He has these freaking weird eyes that see right through you. He activates my catholic guilt just by standing at the podium. He just reaks of disapproval and the decline of Western Civilization.

Being in a red state really sucks! Today that had some local conservative talk show host protesting illegal immigration here a day after the influential leader of the Hispanic community died. The reporter interviewed several people saying they wish the Mexicans would go somewhere else cause they are taking up space here. The story was just plain racist! I am tired of these ignorant people s--ting on Hispanics here.

Oh there's more, during that Operation Tennessee Waltz corruption scandal in the news today, they showed this Bushie-looking redneck selling hotsauce with Harold Ford's uncle John plastered on the front with a gun in his hand. Just plain racist and unnecessary of airtime. He recently resigned as state Senator, but the press has been downright nasty towards him compared to the others.

TN also has to find a new state Dem party chariman because the other resigned over something I forgot. Politics and the media in the South are in shambles.

It's disgusting. :grr: :puke:
