Tired of the negativity over Kerry and the DSM
Why don't these people call out the other Dems over this anyway? Kudos to Mass for defending Kerry though.

2. Too much for me
I let it go, but this is totally insane now.

They dont seem to have a problem with the 41 senators who said nothing, but they have an issue with the first senator who says something.

The lefty world in the blogosphere is such an isolated little island and they think they represent the world.

3. You and LC hung in there
That and the Clark-Kerry thread in GDP is ugly. I wish people would stop talking about 2008 and direct their anger towards * and focus on 2006.

4. or if youre like me and live in Virginia to concentrate on 2005
We got a new governor to elect, Lt Governor, Attorney General, and a gay marriage ban to stop and Jersey has to do some work this fall too.

6. Each time Kerry starts doing something good
the same people come out with the same issues.

That is because they are afraid that he runs again. Good sign.

When they stop talking about him, that will show real trouble.

7. For those who have to answer to the charges about the money
Here are the numbers from opensecrets.org that I posted on the thread about DSM on DU (I had never actually looked at these numbers, and I can now see how the leaks were exagerated.)

8. They never fail to amaze me
Why do they expect that Kerry, in addition to having 2 or 3 campaign appearances, talking to reporters, reviewing news he may have to comment on, talking to his advisers, fund raising during the primaries and occasionally eating and sleeping, was also suppose to dealing with the accounting of the campaign and the actual running of the elections in every state. I'm amazed he had the energy to do what he did and I imagine he knows he, Edwards and their families did an incredible job. With even one more break, they might have won in spite of everything stacked against him.

9. You know what I actually think
I think they have very high expectations of him knowing what he did back in the early 70's and expect him to be perfect then why hes not, they're idsappointed.

10. Me neither
On one hand, they claim they know everything about everything.

On the other hand, they can make the most basic factcheck before they post.

For the rest, I agree totally with you. I am amazed he has the energy to continue to fight for us after these two years, and, instead of ranting, they should be grateful to him.

11. heres what I cant get guys
Theyre on Kerry's case but theyre ok with Gore and some heck would even like him to run again in 08, Kerry's been doing a lot more than Gore has, Gore for the most part exempting the occassional speech he makes has very much sipped in to private.

12. Because they are totally irrealistic about people
They like people who yell rather than people who act, even when the two have equivalent views.

15. Exactly!
They want him to behave in an uncontrolled, undignified manner and he is not going to do that. Actually, the republicans were claiming just the other day that he was like Gore and has lost it ranting like a lunatic. Do you think some of these Kerry bashes are actually closet repubs? Of course, others I think just do not like Kerry because he isn't "there guy" and they don't want to see him run again. The Kos variety actually.

5. I totally agree
What the hell do they want from John Kerry? He's done nothing since the election except to show up for work, act like an adult, work his ass off for the people of Massachusetts and the nation and vote correctly (i.e. against the wishes of Shrub) 100% of the time. Do they want him to perform miracles or something?

One thing I've wondered when reading the GD board, especially recently, is why isn't there a Howard Dean Group? I have absolutely nothing against HD and I totally hope he succeeds as DNC Chair (because we ALL need for him to), but really, his supporters on DU need their own "Cone of Safety Zone" where they can go and bitch about other people and sing the Dr.'s praises.

Thank you Mass for standing up to those folks - not that they were listening I'm sure.

13. I wondered too about no HD group.
I assumed all of DU was "the HD group" and that's why there had to be special groups for anyone else to have that "cone of safety".

14. Funny, but this stuff sounds sooooo familiar
Kerry has always had to contend with the very liberal wing of the MA Dem party which expects liberal saints and gets mightily miffed when people 'back-slide' from the pure liberal line. It's been this way his whole political life in the Bay State. I think some of that comes from the fact that his first national exposure came as an anti-war protester. He was never a socialist or an extreme lefty though and the charges of being some sort of heretic have just always dogged the guy. (Heretic implies deviation from some sort of orthodoxy. How can you deviate from an orthodoxy you never subscribed to in the first place?)

A lot of the charges that have dogged Kerry were first planted by the Nixon White House back in '72. (The rat-f*ckers) Then the Globe got into the act over the years, which didn't help. Part of me always felt like the Globe invented a version of John Kerry that was supposed to be a throwback to the old Brahmins of the 50's. (Henry Cabot Lodge and so forth.) The sins the Globe has always accused Kerry of are Brahmin sins or old New England sins, he's cold, he's out-of-touch, he's not humble enough, he doesn't work hard enough and so forth. (It's almost a perfect parody of an old style of candidate that no longer exists.) The Globe never had these standards for other candidates in MA. It's like they want him to be something that no longer exists and are mad at him because he doesn't fulfill their fantasies of what the Ideal and Perfect Liberal should be. It's so myopic. And the charges are untrue. (For example, Kerry has carried all the big working class cities in Massachusetts in every statewide race he ever ran. He runs well in Holyoke and Worcester, Dracut and Pittsfield. The votes in those blue-collar towns are what put him and kept him in the Senate. He relates just fine to regular folks and they trust him in return. Witness the excellent press he recently got in MA.)

16. I just read the entire thread and it actually seems to have changed
a few (at least a couple) minds - at least got them to hold off on judging re DSM and they discovered all they hype was misinterpreted now that they had his EXACT words shown to them.

Good work, Kerry fighters!

Ya done good.

:toast:

It is on the Greatest Page now but I don't think it reflects that badly on JK. Of course, if some really nasty bashers have visited recently, things could change.

18. The bad part was that Kerry got so much press on this!
We have to admit it, it was all over the web that he was going to bring it up. And we have to admit it, that we are all a little disappointed.
Well I should speak for myself, I am. There is no one, with the exception of Conyers, that I would rather see up there fighting these slimeballs. Kerry has class, and I love to watch him in action.

Still hoping for a surprise from him.

And Kudos to all those fighting on that thread! I was reading it and smiling at you - hope you felt it!

20. The problem is that aids are leaking things that do not happen quickly
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 05:15 AM by Mass
In politics, even a week is an eternity.

Kerry may well be doing what is necessary in background, but if you announce something, it better be ready for showtime immediately.
