Clearly, we are not regulars at MyDD (poll!)
http://www.mydd.com/

Right side, scroll down to the bottom.
"July Straw Poll for the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination"

This needs some DU-JKG help.

2. Done.
I haven't gone there since before the primaries. They were always in the tank for Dean, and dedicated Kerry haters as well.

The guy who runs this is pals with Kos. He was also a paid Dean blogger in 2003/4

4. I met one of the front-pagers.
Nice guy, actually. Said he really liked Kerry, too. Maybe he was just trying to suck me in, but I haven't seen him write anything bad about JK.

I don't spend much time there though because 90% of the good stuff is cross-posted at dkos, and there's much more at dkos. But the poll link was posted in a diary there, so I thought I might as well put it here too.

11. I believe the bloggers vary
I haven't paid much attention there, but it did seem like some of the writers were ok. Having one constant Kerry basher ruins the whole site.

14. Yes, that's true.
Especially if it's the owner/originator of the site, like it is over at dkos.

(Although recently I softened ever so slightly on dkos because Markos did mention Kerry in a favorable post. Just a mention, but with no attendant bashing. A good sign, I hope.)

But I'm really shocked by some of the folks who scored higher than JK on that poll.

10. Kerry only has 4%
What's wrong with these people?

I do like Clark tho, but as Kerry's running mate :)

12. Consider the sample
The sample comes from a portion of the blogosphere which has often been hostile to Kerry.

Also keep in mind that bloggers aren't representative of the party and Kerry's support was much stronger in the entire party than was seen from pre-primary blogs.

13. Also keep in mind that
this is a "freepable" poll. I won't go into details, but this looks like a fairly easy one to freep. For one thing, as noted above, you don't need to be signed in to MyDD to vote.

I have better things to do, personally. But there's a few folks in the blogosphere that seem not to.

15. No apparently, we are not regular there
neither are we able to mess with their polls as other do.

Anyway, I guess we can definitively continue to ignore their site, as Bowers decided that "Right now, I am leaning toward a Kerry demotion, since he seems to have the lowest combination of support and likelihood of actually running."

16. That could have been claimed last fall
at least in terms of support when if you followed the blogs it appeared he had little support.

The comment makes no sense with regards to likelihood of actually running, since Kerry is clearly making moves to keep this option open.

17. It could have been said anytime on mydd.com
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 07:53 PM by Mass
the site is ridiculously anti-Kerry and has drawn out most Kerry's supporters.

The other claim is definitively stupid as it makes little doubt that Kerry is considering running, I agree.

18. Plus Kerry is likely one of the stronger non-Hillary candidates
Hillary is clearly the front runner now (keeping in mind that being front runner this far ahead may not mean a thing). After Hillary, you'd have to consider Kerry one of the strongest candidates considering his name recognition, experience in the primary process, money on hand, email list, and activity so far this year.

If someone wants to predict that others besides Kerry have a better chance, that's fine. Predictions don't mean all that much. It would be absurd to totally remove Kerry from any list of potential candidates

It reminds me of when The New Republic had their series of articles in which someone on their staff gave their endorsements of several of the major candidates. They looked rather absurd when they left out Kerry. I wonder if anyone thought back to that after Kerry locked up the nomination.

19. Not so fast - Jerome upped the poll entries.
In a comment to Chris' post, he said include them all.

I predict Kerry will do a little better in August. Not sure why I say that, just a gut feel.

;-)
