Dixon, Christopher R., Private 1st Class in the US Marine Reserve died in Iraq on 05/11/05. He was 18 years old, the same age as my son.Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press," said Senate Democrats such as Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.), Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) and John F. Kerry (Mass.) were "smearing Karl Rove" and urged them to apologize. Citing Cooper's article and others, Mehlman said: "Democrat partisans on the Hill have engaged in a smear campaign where they have attacked Karl Rove on the basis of information which actually vindicates and exonerates him, not implicates him."

He was 18, the same age as my son.C reported on his recent talks in Washington. There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. The NSC had no patience with the UN route, and no enthusiasm for publishing material on the Iraqi regime's record. There was little discussion in Washington of the aftermath after military action.

She was 18, the same age as my son.Rove, the architect behind President Bush’s election victories, on Wednesday night told a gathering of the New York Conservative Party that “Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.” Conservatives, he said, “saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.”
He added that groups linked to the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for “moderation and restraint” after the terrorist attacks.

He was 18, the same age as my son.The Rove thing isn't about partisan politics. It isn't about gaining an advantage for 2006. It's about 23 kids who will never live to see their 19th birthday because they died in a war that the President of the United States initiated based on lies. It's about 110 19 year olds who will never live to marry, raise children, buy a house or get a job. It's about 199 20 year olds who will never be old enough to legally buy a beer, who will never graduate from college and never again embrace a sister or laugh with friends.
And it's about families, real American families who will forever ache to hold someone who will never come home. It's about parents who have had to bury a kid who never really got to taste life and who now never will. Because of a war that was based on lies.
That's what the Rove thing means to me.
