Multiple Quotes and Info on Roberts
Immediately after finishing Harry Potter I started gathering statements on Roberts and info on his record. This is contained in several posts at the Unofficial Kerry Blog:

http://kerryblog.blogspot.com

A much condensed copy (quotes, but not the info on record) is also at Dembloggers:

1. Alot of good stuff in here guys
Thanks Ron.

Did you check out that "Gospel According to Harry Potter" link?

I haven't read a Harry Potter book since I read one of my niece's, about 5 years ago. I just wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. GREAT BOOK. I couldn't put it down! I love it when kids have actual literature to read. When my daughter was that age, Goosebumps books were the thing. They were okay, but not Harry Potter.

3. Not yet
I haven't checked it yet but I will. There's lots of stuff which I avoided while reading the book, such as the NY Review of Book's review and Salon's review. Now that I finished last night I plan to go back and read what everyone has to say.

2. Thanks for posting, I haven't had time tonite to do much research.
I just can't believe that he chose someone who may be against Roe v Wade. Why would he do that? As a payback for the dems?

Did you catch Keith tonite? He had an interesting segment on this.
Some analyst was saying that this is the fight we are going to see in the Senate:
The Dems will say Roberts has voted against Roe v Wade
The Reps will say that Roberts was only defending his client that was against Roe v Wade

And that Roberts is a soft spoken, intellegent man, without much written about him. AND that 13(?) dems have previously voted for him in his last appointment.

A very tough fight ahead. BUT if anything is proven that he will try to take away a woman's right to choose, the fight will be intense.

Leave it to that moron to do this. Mr. "uniter". You would think this scandal that surrounds him now, along with all of the poll numbers going
against him, that he would try to please the majority, not just his base.

4. An addiion on Roberts from today
While this might not be a direct payback for a favor, it does look like John Roberts was of great help to George Bush in the legal maneuvers to steel the 2000 election. The Dallas News Reports that, "Although his name did not appear on the briefs, three sources who were personally aware of Judge Roberts' role said he gave Republican Gov. Jeb Bush critical advice on how the Florida Legislature could constitutionally name George W. Bush the winner at a time when Republicans feared that if the recount were to continue the courts might force a different choice."
