Oopsie
Posted this over at Kos, totally unrelated to Kerry:

"My local Conservative pundit subbed for Rush today

Thrillsville.

I did find something he said amusing though. He feared that Democrats were seeking government memos on Robert so that they might find some obscure quote and create a caricature of the man that doesn't represent who he really is.

Heavens to Betsy, who would ever think of doing such a thing...coughRovecough.

It's not as if the Republicans would ever do such a thing... to Clinton... both of them... or Gore... or Kerry. Goodness no.

Sigh. There goes my irony meter again. Poor thing. It was brand new too. I go through about one a week."

And my very first response was:

"The question is:

Was anyone for Roberts before they were against Roberts?

Or was Roberts for Roe v Wade before he was against it?"

Now, considering it was Kos, how would you have reacted to that?

I know how I reacted. I freaked. I went apeshit all over this person, asking them if they'd been an asshat before they were a nice person, calling them a koolade drinker etc.

One problem.

The comment was aimed at the GOP and Roberts, not at Kerry. I got what was probably a well-deserved fuck you for attacking the poor person who said they'd supported and given money to Kerry.

Oopsie. Maybe I need to take a break if I'm going to freak at the wrong people.

1. Don't beat yourself up too much
It happens. Personally, I don't think we gain anything by re-activating the frame "Kerry's a flip-flopper" as a way to sarcastically attack the GOP, so I'm not thrilled that person did that anyway. When someone on Kos does it, I tend to assume they're digging at Kerry at the same time as they go after the GOP, or that they don't even care about the GOP, they've noticed I said something good about Kerry and they're just digging at that. I don't know if I've gone apeshit on anyone over it, but I've definitely snapped at people and at least once realized later that it was an overreaction. I guess we need to take deep, calming breaths if we venture to DKos.

2. Ain't that the truth
I still go, because of people like you and about a dozen others who seem to appreciate being kept abreast of Kerry news.

3. but all the same--
They (the repubs) do tend to accuse the Dems of doing exactly what they are doing. Time and time again they accuse, because it is what they are doing. They are now saying we are launching a smear campaign against Roberts, etc. Well it "takes one to know one", or I should say, "it takes one to project the quality onto someone else!" It's the first thing that comes to mind when they want to smear our side. So it's not surprising that you reacted that way, at all.
