Vektor is a riot and a wonderful person. (And her husband is an absolute sweetie!) Vek, Whome, Vek's Hubbie, KathyIn Camb. and I all had a great time. (Once we finally all met. I was 30 minutes late and damn near melted by the time I got there. Sigh!)
It's funny how much you feel like you already know people you haven't really met. We just started talking as though we had known each other forever. It was great! We talked about Kerry, about other meetups, about stuff we've done and we talked about this group and how we got involved in it.
We laughed about the 'greatest hits' threads we have had and about what a fun and loose group this really is. We are a rare oasis in here. We have strong disagreements with each other over things that matter, yet we all like each other and try to keep the disagreements on a level where we are talking about issues, not attacking the people who raise them. That really is a rare and precious thing.
Oh, and the topic of WMDs came up. We haven't had a good WMD thread in a while. Oddly enough, this is a signature item for this group. Without the early threads that allowed all us closet 'Kerry is hot' fans to come out of the closet and admit our secret devotions, I don't think this group would have grown the way it has and stuck together the way it has. So long live the LLL! It is, oddly enough, one of the glues that keeps us together, talking, laughing and relying on each other as the oasis in the desert of feuding Dem politics.
And thank goodness for picture threads. And Vektor's Lover's Haikus. And WEL's passion and wit and intelligence. And Sandnsea's wonderful perspective and passion And young Kleeb's sticking with us even during times of extreme estrogen eruptions and Ginny's wonderful support and for everyone else that I don't have time to list because I'm supposed to be packing for my trip.
I really love you guys. I honestly think you saved my sanity last fall. And give me a reason to keep coming back to DU, even when the other forums give me a headache in my eye.
