Why is the NYT so obnoxious to Kerry
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 11:34 AM by karynnj
They are bringing up the botox nonsense again - in a story about a young Hollywood group his daughter is in. Kerry does look great, but he does have smile lines around his eyes and lines on his forehead. That this story started by Republicans comparing a photo of Kerry while being treated for cancer vs a later healthier picture should really make this story beyond the pale.

This comment is so unnecessary and off topic for the article, that I wonder why they included it. It's also kind of insulting to Alexandra that rather than ask her about the project and report her (likely quite interesting and intelligent) answer, they only asked her about a rumor concerning her dad. Her answer was good though.

Slightly off topic: They also have an editorial praising the Cafta 15 because they backed CAFTA - which helps the poor consumers get cheap products. (Not mentioning that the poor consumers will need very cheap products because their wages will be down or gone due to trade agreements like this. This is the liberal media?

1. The NYTimes
has been dismissive of stories about election problems, the Plame leak, and the DSM. I honestly don't see them as liberal at all, except for some of their columnists. And not that many of them either.

2. I agree
What's strange is that it happened so gradually - when I guess I wasn't paying attention. We get the NYT and always just thought of it as it once was. The frustrating thing is that its credibility from past years and its reputation as liberal almost make their snarky reporting more damaging.

3. It crept up on me too.
My husband gets the Times at work and brings it home for me to read at night, so I get it really late in the day.

Lately I find myself reading less and less of the paper - mostly it disgusts me how closely they adhere to administration propaganda. Just think - BUMILLER!!!! Argggghhhh.

4. Well at least they endorsed Kerry for pres.,, didn't they?
Actually the majority of newspapers around the country did. They know what's what. I suppose the NYT has its share of pressure.

We just cancelled our Sunday paper, after years and years of getting it (the Milwaukee Journal). The reason, mainly is the internet. We get our news there, and more completely than in the paper. So by the time we read it in the paper, it's stuff we already know about. My husband likes to read AP news online, and says that their articles are always the full thing--where in the paper they often trim them down. And I read tons of sites, including a lot of op-eds from all over because I'm the political junkie of the family. Our paper reprints a few op-eds, but mostly ones I've already read online.

The only time I really want to read a newspaper now is when away from home and internet.
