Kerry bashing toning down?
Has anyone noticed the Kerry bashing has went from high, to over the top, to mediocre as of late? It seems like the post-election emotion and bitterness has been exhausted, and people have a mixed reaction. I think this is a crucial time for Kerry to re-evaluate himself, and make sure he keeps his face out there to remind people why they supported him in the first place in 2004. I've seen a sort of shift in the past few days, and DU isn't as anti-Kerry as it has been since the election back in November. Is this good news for Kerry? Yes. He has a chance to convince any skeptics, and gain back some of the support of the people who felt like he didn't do everything after the election.

1. not really
there is a lot of bashing within other threads that were started about someone or something other than Kerry.

and people are also focusing on other things.

the Kerry bashing threads will start up when he does something positive or makes news as they have always done.

and whether Kerry runs again certainly should not be based on DU.

2. It's always the same ones bashing

My theory on these posters is that these are people that were for a certain candidate, I think you know who. Well anyway when their candidate loss, and the only candidate that they didn't want to lose to was you know who (hint, JK). So, as soon as there candidate loss, they jumped on other's bandwagons, and a few good ones jumped on Kerry's.

I watched it all on the Kerry blog, and I'm sure a few of these DU'ers are the same ones that caused havoc on the Kerry blog. The same lines they used then, they use now over and over and over again.

I'm sorry their candidate loss, (well maybe just a little bit sorry), but what they did across the internet to John Kerry all just because they were sore losers and what they do now is just pure Rovish. I see some of them congratulating Paul Hackett, didn't matter that he stood for many of the same things that Kerry did, the main difference is that luckily Paul Hackett never ran against their candidate.

They'll be back. And how.

4. Interesting Observation

I too have noticed it seems to be the same people. But right now, their being relatively quiet. Maybe they got tired of using the same Republican talking points from 2004!? Maybe the Skull and Bones excuse didn't work out for them!? I don't know. I would like to think the Kerry bashing is toning down for good, but I know it's not the truth. What are the Kerry bashers gonna do if Kerry decides to run for re-election in the Senate, in 2008?

5. Could it be the Paul Hackett loss?
I haven't seen anyone on liberal sites urging him to contest the results, though I may have missed it.

6. No, they changed the target, that's all
There are a little less "he did not fight for us" for now, but there are plenty of these 08 threads full of "Kerry was boring as hell and did not connect", to promote anybody from Hill to Clark as the nominee, as if they did not have any quality. There are also a bunch of "I like Kerry but he campaigned as hell", and "I like Kerry but he had his chance".

I prefer the "Kerry voted for IWR. At least, even if this is a very limited view, the person is stating something that is true (he voted for it, even if he certainly did not vote for Bush war). I hate the people who jockey for their candidates by promoting MSM ideas.

The traditional Kerry bashing will come back the next time Kerry asks for money, so I assume this is very soon as I received an email for Casey.

7. I think it's gone down
But not in the last few days -- in the last 2 months. Posting pro-Kerry diaries on DKos used to be like chumming for sharks, but lately the Kerry-bashers seem to be tired -- they don't want to come out to play like they used to. Doesn't necessarily mean anyone likes him any better, but they seem to have less rage.

I think Kerry's doing things just right -- staying active but not *too* in-your-face, because I think it'll take more time for people to get over their anger and come to miss him.

8. the "he ran a terrible campaign" seems to be the most popular
excuse for trashing Kerry.

Most of it is coming from people who were very partisan about supporting someone else during the primaries. I recognize the names.

9. Some of the disrupting trolls are being weeded out. They were the ones
who would bash Kerry on any issue just to divide.

They're fairly easy to discern from the legitimate DUers.

10. It goes up and down, BUT when the polls come around
I'm always fairly amazed at how many folks actually do like him, who must not pipe up much.

There are a few names we all know, and who are probably in our ignore lists.

12. I'm always pleasantly surprised
when I see a Kerry Avatar in GD / GD-P on a post from someone who isn't a regular poster in the Kerry Group. I try to pay attention to those, and there are quite a few of those out there (present company excluded).

Welcome Ray of Light!

13. there was one time
when someone posted about Kerry looking cute at some senate hearing and a bunch of people who don't post in the 2008 threads had good things to say. and there was that one 2008 poll thread without Kerry's name and most of those responding said they would support Kerry in the response since his name wasn't listed.

i know he doesn't have as much support as some others on DU but he does have a lot of people who like him but they just don't post in the 2008 threads regularly. and i think sometimes people on here let the few same bashers get to them when they shouldn't. most of the regular bashers should be ignored anyways.

14. There are always the die-hard douche bags...
That will jump at every opportunity to criticize everything from his hair, to his tie, to the way he holds his fork when he eats. Hopefully some of them will grow tired of the childishness soon and give it up. Others are not happy unless they are putting someone else down to boost their own sagging sense of self worth.

They'll never quit. They'll just die angry, bitter, and blaming Kerry for everything under the sun.

LAME.
