http://clavius.as.arizona.edu/vo/R1024/GConsolmagno.htmlI was at a panel being moderated by Dr. Guy Consolmagno, S.J., who is the Director of the Vatican Observatory in Tucson, AZ. (He is a Phd in Planetary Science and got his undergard from MIT.) Way cool guy. (Jesuits tend to be the cool kids at the Catholic Church's table anyway.) Brother Consolmagno was there to talk about religious views on the Intelligent Design movement in the US. He thought it was a Protestant thing and, jokingly, reminded us that the Protestants were heretics and therefore wrong. (LOL!)
Anyway, I caught up with Dr. Consolmagno after the panel and talked to him briefly about religion, Catholics and who is and is not a 'Bad Catholic.' Very interesting guy with very interesting views. The ID debate is by no means a monolithic Christian movement. There are a great many dissenters.
I thought this was just great and another wonderful resource whenever the 'Religious police' start to attack science again.
