Iraq deployment hurt response - could it be that Kerry was right again
unfortunately. (does somebody has a quote?).

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050909/ap_on_re_us/katrina_national_guard_4

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - The deployment of thousands of National Guard troops from Mississippi and Louisiana in
Iraq when Hurricane Katrina struck hindered those states' initial storm response, military and civilian officials said Friday.

1. How's this:
Focusing on the National Guard, Kerry said Bush's decision to send Guard forces to Iraq has undermined homeland security. "Sending thousands of National Guard members to Iraq has actually weakened our ability to defend our own country," he said.

From a June 3,2004 Independence, Missouri speech (not national disaster)

2. Put it in GD. This is exactly why I blame the media for never discussing

the very serious issues Kerry raised CONSTANTLY in the campaign while they busied themselves with protecting Bush's image at all costs.

Put both the articles in the post. Makes a powerful statement.

3. I am amazed at how everyone's memory fails on this point
Kerry hammered * last year on how the US was not better protected against disasters, whether they were terrorist related or not. He just hammered him on it. That first debate was a revelation to so many because Kerry was so well prepared to discuss that topic. And * looked like a child being taken to school by a master.

Honestly, you could have a had a decent drinking game at those debates: drink every time Sen. Kerry says, "first-responders" or "lack of preparedness." You would have had a nice little buzz from that.

DU should know this. It's not only Kerry's point, it's the damn Democratic response to the Rethuglican agenda. They are enriching their friends and not doing anything to make America safer. Nothing.

4. that Kerry quote from the other day that Mass and Sabra posted in GD
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 11:37 PM by emulatorloo
Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic presidential candidate in 2004, said in an interview: ``It's a summary of all that this administration is not in touch with and has faked and ducked and bobbed over the past four years. What you see here is a harvest of four years of complete avoidance of real problem solving and real governance in favor of spin and ideology.''

will add link in a sec

5. I remember him saying this
in practically every. single. speech.

DU certainly should know this. Which leads me - once again - to wonder how many of these people are actually democrats. I'd bet your average Kerry voter from last year is aware he emphasized these things. So how come all these hyperinformed DUers forgot?

6. It's sad when you can almost hear verbatim
what he said because he did indeed say it every time.
