What the hell is up with some Dem Sens?
how could any Dem vote against:

"To prohibit weakening any law that provides safeguards from unfair foreign trade practices." Senate Vote on 9/15

Here are the Dems who voted against this basic principle:
Baucus (D-MT)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Carper (D-DE)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Lieberman (D-CT)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Murray (D-WA)
Nelson (D-NE)
Obama (D-IL)
Reed (D-RI)
Schumer (D-NY) (?)
Wyden (D-OR) (?)

Wyden? I thought he was a good Dem. What the hell was he thinking. And just when I was starting to really like the guy too! And Schumer, WTF? That's it, he's off the Christmas card list.

1. I don't understand this.
I heard Dorgan make an impassioned speech on behalf of this the other afternoon.

2. Amazing indeed - Some of them do not surprise me as they voted for CAFTA

But Obama and Schumer?

Particularly when there were Republicans voting for it. It is not that often I agree with Chambliss.

WTF ? I just don't understand it, I have watched Dorgan talk about this many times, it is just good common sense, and good for the American people.

What lobbyist got to them. I notice Cantwell and Murray vote against many items on this line, but why Obama, I'm sorry but I have not been to impressed with him . I am also surprised with Reed and Schumer. This would of passed easily if the Dems stuck together, there were 7 Republicans who voted for it.

5. Don't be snowed by those R's
No way they would have let this pass. The only reason there are 7 R's is to make the liberal base mad. Works every time.

6. Wyden disappoints me.
Edited on Thu Sep-15-05 01:29 PM by TayTay
I spent the August break giving him hot steamy kisses because of his wonderful remarks on the Energy Bill. I ignored the fact that I can see his bald spot on the C-Span cameras. I was nice. And then he goes and does this. Sigh! I am so disappointed.

Maybe you were right! We have really good DEM Sens in the Northeast.

7. Given the vote, I would limit that to MA and VT
Reed, Schumer, and Clinton disappoint me on this one.

8. Ahm, I was trying not to be all braggy.
You caught me. I was obliquely saying that MA had great Sens. And Jeffords voted against that common sense bill. Leahy is a good Sen. though.

14. I'm in CT.
NOT TOO THRILLED WITH LEIBERMAN EITHER!! I was never really sure why Al Gore chose him to be his running mate? Probably for the FLA. vote, and the fact that he's a "moderate"? He's just too "Republican" for me!

9. Here's a bald spot for you to love

He has only failed me once and that was on Healthy Forests, but I understood because our district is logging dependent. He immediately redeemed himself by introducing legislation to fix Healthy Forests and has really tried to draw attention to bad logging practices and the like.

He won't break your heart, gush freely.
