Anyone watching the Emmys?
The Daily Show won for writing, and the clips were all about Kerry.

1. Any good ones?
I was partial to that clip they did during the debates when they asked what Kerry was writing and it showed a closeup of the note that read, "I am sooo crushing him." Ha ha ha ha ha!

This is like the third year in a row TDS has won emmies for writing. They deserve it.

2. NO! Of all the clips they could have selected.
The clip was not intended to be flattering. And it was ALL Kerry. "Three purple hearts and one crescent", Bush with Laura and John with a series of women he dated pre-Teresa.
No. Not the good ones. Aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!
What's going on, anyway? CNN, Leno/Sunffy, Emmys. What are they saying about the Senator? Are they prepping for preemptive swiftboating?
OK, TDS is up for another. Let's see if they show the same clip.

There is something up here. Why all the Kerry smackdowns? Maybe they're taunting him? Time for some MSM face time?

This stuff on the Emmys is a little too staged.

8. Oh! I'm sorry, I did see that
And sorry to hear they did it again with the Daily Show clips.

What was the context for him saying "OMG, I know why he lost?" (Please tell me it wasn't...windsurfing :scared:)

9. It was the concession speech.
Tay Tay is right. Sen Kerry is due for some late nite talk show time. Three is not a coincidence. Four is blatant.

10. Yup. And he should get some face time on some shows
If I were him, I would ask for some time on The Daily Show. That might be fun. The pressure is off, in terms of running for a race and I think he still has some fans on the show. It would be a nice move, especially since the demographics for that show skewer so young. And go on Letterman, or maybe a 'surprise' appearance on SNL. Why not, shows ya got a sense of humor.

12. I'd love to see Kerry on Bill Maher!
Schumer was on last nite, it was great. Bill was cracking Schumer up.

It's time for Kerry to get out there and have some fun with the people that voted for him.

It'd be neat if Kerry could be on Maher's panel once!

6. What's weird is that from memory - Jon Steward had far more Bush jokes
The last one was just sad- they had Kerry acknowledging the girl who started Kids for Kerry when he was giving his concession speech. Steward's comment was funny in that context, but it was such a genuine moment in the real speech - she couldn't vote, but it was obvious that her support meant a lot to Kerry.

I really think they may be reacting to the obvious question of why were people pushed to vote for Bush last year - as reality on him is seeping in. Their fall back seems to be to mock Kerry.

13. I can't stand to watch when John Stewart mocks John Kerry!
I like Stewart and his show, but not as much as I admire and like John Kerry. I tried a while back to e-mail the Daily Show and tell them how much I disliked him dishing a Democrat as much as he does Kerry, but I could find no e-mail link on the daily Show web page. Honestly, he was picking on Kerry more than I have seen him pick on other Dems. It's just not fair.
In regards to the Daily Show mocking Kerry and not Bush, perhaps the Emmy's wouldn't allow them to show clips of what a true moron and screw up Bush actually is-you know, showing respect for the President and all that.

14. i think they only send in a couple, maybe 3 episodes
from which people judge and vote. the clips they showed were probably from the ones where Stewart send in and ended up winning for.

it is possible they showed the Kerry ones because they are sensitive to the "liberal hollywood" attack from republicans.

i saw the episode where he jokes about Kerry's young supporters. it wasn't that bad and kind of cute if you saw it when it came on the daily show. i'm not sure how it came across on the emmy's though.

15. HI ALL!
I was upset at the Kerry clips too, but didn't any of you see the "pre- filmed" (censored) clip he did of his feelings about Katrina, and how the feds f***ed up the rescue and relief effort? Boy he did a number on them, and ended with a (censored) middle finger salute to the rethugs with his right hand and to the Dems with his left hand!!!! I think he was stressing that we didn't get involved enough, or maybe he meant the Mayor, the Gov. and Senator Landrieu? I would have loved to hear it non -censored!!:nuke:

16. That actually was funny especially when he
said something about it being censored by the network and the government (not sure of wording). The idea that the news is distorted to not tell the truth came through like a bell - without any anti-Bush comments.

I do think that comments up - thread that the Emmies demanded no anti Bush comments, may have led to selecting only the bits making fun of Kerry. Which ends up being incredibly unfair - when he doesn't have the ability to easily counter it and when he is going far beyond his job to help.

17. That's CBS for ya!!
Ever since Dan Rather "screwed up" they've turned more to the right! That's what I loved about Peter Jennings, I miss him so! And I still love about Keith Olbermann! They're not afraid to tell the TRUTH!! Too bad Keith is away this week, 'cause I bet he'd do a good segment on Kerry's speech, and the Emmys! Maybe I'll watch his show anyway to see if his Sub mentions it at all!!
