Breaking news: John Kerry Opposes Roberts’ Nomination for Chief Justice

Below is a statement by Senator John Kerry on the upcoming vote on Judge John Roberts to be Chief Justice of the United States:

“I can’t in good conscience vote to confirm Judge Roberts to a lifetime leading our third and co-equal branch of government when his confirmation hearings contained no genuine legal engagement, no real exchange of information, and no substantive discussion. The confirmation exercise has become little more than an empty shell. I cannot vote to confirm someone to lead the very branch of government responsible for ensuring equal opportunity and justice when he refuses to say where he stands on things as fundamental as how he would interpret our Constitution.

but this is very welcome news!! Sounds like the same tone he had in the Brown speech. JK is turning up the volume. I love it.

And it pissed off Robert Bennett, which makes me love it even more.

2. Yeah, Bennett was sputtering along
Saying thing s like, he doesn't have any papers that You need to see, (ya librul bastard ya) and he is going to be a judge for me, not you and all of america and I took an oath before I was a Senator and it was good. (Not really understanding the underlying stuff here. Oh well there's always the Congressional record tomorrow.)

I look forward to seeing Sen. Kerry in comm later on today.

3. I love the way he does
pissed off. I know, I know, it's way too subtle for the GD idiots who want him taking off his jacket and throwing things and getting all red in the face. But I appreciate the elegance of pissed-off Kerry. BTW, everyone - point for GD argument - he was elegantly pissed off in 1971 too.
