Letter from JK on behalf of DSCC
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 09:42 PM by TayTay
Dear Tay,

If you want to prevent the next Samuel Alito from being confirmed to the Supreme Court, then you need to help the DSCC and me elect a Democratic Senate in November.

We need you to make an immediate investment in our campaign today so we can withstand the Republicans' Swift Boat-style distortions and character attacks that are sure to come. I know that we can win in November, but only if we can count on your support today and all the way through Election Day. Your help is crucial. Please make a contribution right now.

I know what's at stake. I helped lead the fight against Samuel Alito's confirmation to the Supreme Court because he has consistently made it harder for the poorest and most vulnerable Americans to have their days in court. He routinely defers to excessive government power, even in light of the most extreme abuses of that power. The only thing he has ever said about a woman's right to privacy is that she doesn't have one.

Trying to defeat Alito's nomination in a Republican-dominated Senate proved impossible, but the final vote total shows something important. 54 Republican senators - a Senate majority - voted for the nominee. 40 Democratic senators voted against him. The difference between a Republican-controlled Senate and a Democratic Senate could not be clearer. We have to change those numbers as soon as possible.

The DSCC is working hard to change that balance of power in Washington. As of today, Democratic Senate candidates are running strong campaigns against Republican incumbents in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Missouri.

However, in each of those states, the Republican incumbent has a larger campaign war chest than our Democratic challenger. The DSCC's job is to level that playing field. I know we can win in those key states and take back the Senate in November, but only if the DSCC can count on your support every step of the way. Please make a contribution before it's too late.

Electing a Democratic Senate is the only way to prevent George Bush from putting more judges like Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alito on the Supreme Court. But if we're going to succeed, the DSCC urgently needs your help. Please make a contribution right now.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

Ahm, I think Sen. Kerry is a good Dem team player and is helping Sen. Schumer raise money for Dem Senatorial candidates. That is wicked nice of him, don't ya think. (I already sent these folks money in Jan. I might have to kick in something here, cuz they asked so nicely.

So I guess you win.
:-(

I would post some of it, but it's been double bagged and taked to the outside trashcan.

9. Yuck! I'm so sorry that toxic waste came in the mail.
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 10:06 PM by TayTay
I assume you bleached the mailbox afterwards to get rid of Santorium cooties. Ewh!

I got the Kerry letter cuz I'm on the DSCC e-mail list. I get stuff from them twice a week or so. Today, it was a letter signed by JK! I loved the letter because he specifically mentions Alito. Gee, didn't certain pundits 'inside the beltway' tell us that the filibuster attempt had soured relations between JK and the power structure of the Dems in the Senate? Ahm, I beg to differ. I cite this letter as proof. The Alito filibuster is also a good fundraiser for the Senate Dems. Maybe Sen. Schumer thinks certain Sens should send out e-mail appeals on the internet, cuz they are apparently, ahm, heard by the masses.

13. Ricky replied to my FISA letter
with a load of crap. Luckily, it's garbage night. My mailman rarely has good timing, but today was an exception.

I think it's great that the DSCC sent an e-mail from Sen Kerry. It is a comfort to know that they recognize the power of his voice.

I was hoping for an e-mail from JK to see if the technical problems have been resolved. I expect we'll hear from him soon.

I got mail from them until I got the comast account and the AOL account was still active. Just to use as a test case. I hope to get some Kerrymail, I miss it so. (This mail was from another org, not KerryMail per se.)

23. I got one to about my letter concerning Alito.
Did you know that the "President nominates and appoints justices to the Supreme Court, as well as all other federal appellate and district judges", with the "advice and consent" of the Senate? Sure he does.
I actually sent him a letter on Alito about two months ago and it took him this long to get back to me. He actually didn't even explain why he voted for him. What he did was review his resume for me. Santorum always replies but give a non-answer to my question.
Anyway, he is now been discarded to the trash heap.

11. Feed me Seymour, I'm hungry.
I love that musical. I still hum 'Be a dentist' everytime I see my Doc. She likes me anyway. Come to think of it, the lyrics to that song could easily git the Vice President with very little tweaking.

Song:Vice Prezident! Lyrics

When I was younger, just a bad little kid,
My mama noticed funny things I did,
Like shootin' puppies with a B B gun
I'd poison guppies, and when I was done
I'd find a pussycat and bash in its head
That's when my mama said

What did she say?

She said, "My boy, I think someday
You'll find a way
To make your natural tendencies pay
You'll be a Vice President!
You have a talent for causin' things pain
Son, beVice President
People will pay you to be inhumane
Your temperament's wrong for the priesthood
And teaching would suit you still less
Son, beVice President
You'll be a success

Here he is, folks the leader of the plaque!
Watch him suck up that gas!
Oh, my god!
He's a Vice Prez and he'll never ever be any good
Who wants their teeth done by the Marquis de Sade?

It's swell though they tell me I'm maladjusted
And though it may cause my people distress,
Somewhere, somewhere in heaven above me
I know, I know, that my mama's proud of me
Oh, mama
'Cause I'm Vice President and a success
Say ah!

2. nice letter.
and true. The dem candidates are short of money.

However, lets just hope their planning is much better than usual. I'm sick of their lack of skills. I have never worked in a republican office to know if it's as bad.

The saddest thing to me was that during the 04 elections, a friend was working for Bush/Cheney and I was for kerry. We had an agreement to not talk politics. It works well. I know she's disappointed in Bush but she still considers herself to be a Republican. Why? I don't know! She's kind and generous and giving and not a religious freak. Not your usual Republican.

(Excuse typos and stuff--I'm too exhausted to nitpick!)

10. Yes, but I had people who were just so...
buying into the media spin and they NEVER looked at johnkerry.com

Had they, then they would have discovered that Republicans waving flipflops doesn't mean anything or a 30 second sound bite means nothing when the facts were laid out there for people to read.

Sure...there were and are differences, but all of us here are smart enough that the intellegent person looks at facts and technicalities and nuances and then votes according to that--not according to a sound bite.

didn't offend you or anyone.

I know this stuff in Iraq is heart breaking and scary too! I too am upset, but I also needed just a little humor to pick myself up or I'd be crying in my tea right now.

Hope I didn't offend you or anyone here.

18. Oh no, of course not.
Iraq is depressing to me on a very regular basis unfortunately. Everytime something really bad happens I can't help but think that my kids ae the same age as a bunch of the troops we sent over there. It just gets me.

You were fine. I never stay depressed all that long. I just seem to need humor to get out of it.

20. No, it came from the DSCC
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 10:38 PM by TayTay
It wasn't real KerryMail from the PAC. It came from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. This org is headed, this cycle, by Chuck Schumer from NY. Sen. Kerry did give them $1 million dollars a year ago in order to recruit Dem candidates to run for the Senate and cuz nothing says loving like $1 million bucks. (Great, now I have Austin Powers stuck in my head. '$1 million dollars! Bwaa-ha-hahaha!')

Oh dear, I 'm sorry I gave the wrong impression. I really liked the letter cuz it mentioned Alito and the fight that Sen. Kerry waged to filibuster Alito's nomination. I liked that this was included in a fundraising letter from the DSCC. Sorry.

It's there when I need it. I greatly fear taking my memory apart to see how it works, as I will never get all the pieces to fit back together. So, I just sort of trust that it will be there when I need it.

25. HAHHAHAHAHHAH
you have to love how they need the guy they didn't include on their leadership list to be the one to raise money for them. reminds me of Kaine asking KErry to campaign and raise money for him and to tell others to vote for him, but doesn't want to appear with him.

is there a way to do this so they know the money we donate is because of Kerry ? or maybe do it through a Kerry link ?

26. Great letter.
Did you guys see how South Dakota has passed a TOTAL abortion ban (only to save life of mother). They did it so it could be forwarded to the SC. (Interestingly, many abortion opponents were against the bill because they think the court needs one more RW wacko to win). John Kerry, my hero forever and always, fighting and being ridiculed because of what we KNEW was going to happen. One more reason to HATE the media, as they giggled about yodeling and Switzerland while women's rights were going down the drain . . .
