There is nothing in his announcement that raises my opinion of this Reagan administration jerk. He is clearly NOT a Democrat. He claims: "But, like many of us, he considers himself as coming from an older, deeper tradition of the Democratic Party - Andrew Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, Harry Truman - than we see in its current, "interest group politics" manifestation" Could someone please tell him that Teddy Roosevelt was a Republican - unlike his better cousin, FDR? (I'll be interested to see how long it takes the Kos people to catch this). Also, not a good role model - Remember the Maine being the WMD of an earlier war.)
He also equates the Democratic party to the Republicans on corruption and cronyism and sees himself as better than the Democrats there - what a jerk.
"Frankly, if you love the current direction that the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, and the United States of America are heading, then by GOD don't vote for James Webb. If, however, you think we're running off course and need major changes to get us "back on track," then James Webb is your man - an American Hero to help save America from Bush, Cheney, and the "culture of corruption" Abramoff/DeLay Republicans.
Of course, if you are happy with government of lobbyists, by hacks, and for career politicians, then by GOD do NOT vote for James Webb."
So, he's an American hero - I'm sorry but I see no reason to accord him that status because I don't like what he did after gaining his awards. (isn't that his view on JK)
My opinion of Bob Kerrey really fell when I heard him on the Imus show a few days before John Kerry was on. Although he defended John Kerry who he likes, he thought the US was doing a good job on the policing actions (where John Kerry thought they were placed in an impossible position). Obviously, his own war experience (and his designation by some as a war criminal) didn't teach him much.
Mass - I assume you mean Kerrey in the title
