Very sad news - Dana Reeves died of lung cancer yesterday
She was such a strong Kerry supporter I assume that it is ok to post here. She was so amazing in her support of her husband. It was amazing that in addition to that she had the strength to work for stem cell research and Kerry.

I was lucky enough to see her act, because she acted with the NJ Shakespeare Theatre - and she was incredible. This is incediblely sad - especially as she has a t least one young son.

7. Statement from Sen. Kerry's office
3/7 - Statement by John Kerry on the Passing of Dana Reeve

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 7, 2006

Statement by John Kerry on the Passing of Dana Reeve

“It is impossible to put into words the quiet strength and incredible courage Dana Reeve demonstrated in the way she lived her life. With Chris, she gave voice to a movement to find life-saving cures and promote medical research, and when she lost her inspiration and love she didn’t stop the fight. Only days after Chris’ death she continued to give hope to millions of Americans. She was an inspiration to me and to us all. Chris was America’s superhero, and Dana became our hero, too.

“Teresa and I loved them both, and we are deeply saddened by Dana’s passing. She was a steadfast partner to her husband, a loving mother, a talented artist, and an amazing caregiver who showed incredible grace fighting for her husband and then for her own life. Will, Matthew and Alexandra will be in our thoughts and prayers.”

8. Oh my gosh, how awful
It's unbelievable what some people have to go through in their lives. I don't know how they do it. And those kids, just agonizing for them. Just so sad.

13. Very sad that she had to go so young.
This may come across as irrational, but I curse at lung cancer!!!! It just sneaks up on you and doesn't even give you much of a chance to fight back. First Peter Jennings and now Dana Reeve. It's the #1 cancer killer, and doesn't just afflict smokers. My grandpa (who worked for the '60 JFK campaign) died of lung cancer, and I never got to know him, as I was a baby when he passed away. Maybe the medical research Dana fought for can lead to a cure or at least prolong the life of lung cancer patients, as well as helping those who are paralyzed. We need to beat this cancer killer!

17. There is more at the Christopher Reeve Foundation site.
There is a link where you can send your condolences or give a donation in Dana Reeve's memory. http://www.kintera.org./customsites/CRF/default.htm

Just the other day, I got my Superman dog tags from the foundation. They say "Go Forward" on the front. These are for a good cause and they are only $10. for a set of 2 tags (one keychain and one for on a ball chain to wear around your neck.) http://www.christopherreeve.org/site/c.geIMLPOpGjF/b.1099057/k.9764/Superman_Tags.htm

19. this is just so fucking sad and depressing
even though we knew it still came as a shock she died. i remember even after her husband died how determined she was to keep going on and trying to make things better for others. she looked so healthy too.
