6. This is turning into a really random pic thread

Paris, France - Students and workers march in Paris yesterday during a demonstration against the 'First Job Contract', a jobs plan known as CPE. (Photo: AP)

Merde. I had really only planned to see the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. You guys might have to help bail me and the kids out of jail.
Oh well, been there :-), done that. Wonder what the food is like in Paris jails? Probably better than here.

9. Wow Prosense, these are amazing!
Where you there? How big is the town? Was this held today? Was it an organized effort or a loose call for folks to assemble today?

I am impressed. That sign with the 'What noble cause?' always gets me because the Prezdent can't answer it. He tries but it just sounds like meaningless drivel.

The town is about 4 sq. miles with a population of 23,000. This is a pretty active community. So is the sister town South Orange, pop. 17,000. Very active and up-to-date websites and a shared one at twotowns.org. Blogs, forums, chats, calendar of events, we're surrounded by universities: Rutgers, Kean, Seton Hall.

A couple of calendar entries from today:

March 19, 2006 March in Maplewood Against the War
Time: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Information: The South Orange-Maplewood Committee to Stop the War (www.SOMAstopthewar.org) is sponsoring a march through the center of Maplewood to protest the war in Iraq. March 19th is the third anniversary of the start of the war. The march will start at the Maplewood train station (town side) and pass through the town center, by the library and Town Hall, and then circle back through town to arrive at Ricalton Square. A rally against the war will follow in the square.

13. Wow! That is very impressive
There was a pretty good protest in Boston this morning at the Irish breakfast. I hope the folks were treated well and someone sent over hot chocolate and coffee. (or cider, as the case may be.) These protests are important because the media should show the voices of dissent. I think it does help to create unease in the public's mind.
