i use to pay attention to these things closely. but have been out of it for a while. part of it was because i stopped reading the Los Angeles Times since they turned right wing.
but i'm going to try to start up again with online news which is much better these days.
so what is going on there ?

getting his power questioned and there was an election yesterday and the polls had Lukashenko with 80% and the other canddiates sharing the remaining 20%. He's a big ally of Putin. Democratic representives like Tom Lantos and Alcee Hastings have been talking about it, theres an article about it in today's Washington Post.
