Need help now: what's a good unbiased site explaining political theory?
My friend - who I convinced to vote for Kerry - is doing a lot of political soul searching. She's VERY naive and isn't very political and wants to know more. She is asking me where, on the internet, to find a good, unbiased article that clearly explains what liberals and conservatives believe without being written from the bias of one or the other. She just sent me a site and asked if it was good, and it was a libertarian hitpiece that called Kerry a warmonger. She wasn't sure if it was true or not! See what I mean about naive?

So is there a good, comprehensive website that explains exactly what liberals, conservatives, neocons, and far leftists believe, and what differentiates them? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP, KERRYCRATS!

These seems pretty straight forward and easy to digest.

2. On the Issues
http://www.issues2000.org/default.htm

Look up a political figure, scroll to the bottom, below the graph click on the "explanation of political philosophy" link.

For John Kerry the direct link (hopefully this works):
http://www.issues2002.org/VoteMatch/candidate_map.asp?a1=1&a2=1&a3=1&a4=5&a8=2&a9=5&a10=5&a5=5&a6=4&a7=5&a14=4&a15=2&a16=2&a19=5&a17=4&a18=2&a20=1&a11=1&a12=5&a13=2&i1=1&i2=1&i3=1&i4=1&p=70&e=30&t=22

Repeat this for a few political figures that she thinks she has some knowledge of where they stand.

Combined with the more academic approach in the wikipedia article(s), this should give your friend a better idea what the labels mean.

3. this article is helpful
http://www.tonypalmeri.com/frp.htm

This is the second try at posting--something is slow/not working, either DU or my computer!

Anyway, this is a very helpful article, explaining the differences between real conservatives, liberals and radicals (Bush). Called "Fighting Reactionary Politics" from April 05.
