Why is it so hard for other Dems to give Kerry credit
I was just watching the lobbying discussion that went on in the House on Thursday.

So Rahm Emmanuel brings up how disappointed he was that the Senate passed such a weak bill. But gave credit to McCain, Feingold and Obama, as staunch supporters of reform for a long time. I mean there were only 3 damn Dem Senators that voted against it and for some reason Emmanuel just couldn't give Kerry credit.

Kerry would never diss a Dem and would give credit where credit is due. I'm sorry but shit like this really pisses me off.

1. It's disgusting and it's a definite pattern

I think the Dem leadership has absolutely blacklisted his name. When do you EVER hear Reid, Pelosi, Emmanuel, Schumer, or Dean say anything about Kerry (other than criticism of his campaign in 2004)? NEVER. They'll steal his plans without giving him credit, make reference to the election but say that 59 million people "voted against Bush" (no joke, I got that in a fundraising letter from Pelosi once), and generally ignore his existence. It couldn't be MORE obvious that they want to shove him off the stage and make way for the "new" face of the party.

It has disgusted me with the entire Democratic party and I refuse to give any of them a dime. All my money goes to Kerry and Keeping America's Promise.

Oh, and of course, the left leaning media is absolutely no better. I picked up an issue of The Nation yesterday, and before I got to page 20, I had read THREE different snarky, smearing comments about Kerry, while they blubbered and slobbered over Feingold. I KNOW damn well they didn't do the same for Kerry for his filibuster effort. There is NO ONE Kerry can count on, outside Kennedy, Max Cleland, and a few other stalwarts (and, of course, us).

5. Been there, done that...
and it is deja vu all over again!

(They did the same exact thing to Gore! Even with Clinton, their mention of him is grudging at best and most often as an afterthought.)

Since the Dem party poobahs seem to be reading dkos, may be one of us should post there and ask these idiot elected dems to get their acts together and give credit where credit is due. If they do not stand up for each other, why is the media going to?

I will never be able to forget how the dems on TV all during the recount were telling Gore to pack it in: unconscionable, undemocratic and ultimately suicidal -- except they are taking us down with them...

2. One name: HRC

All these people who cannot give credit to Kerry are close to Hillary. There is no mystery here. They see Kerry as her strongest opponent and do what they can to make him disappear.

Unfortunately, it seems that Reid is also playing the game (may be because Hillary was one of the first one to support him as Majority leader. Who knows what deal they made last year?

Even those who are not Hillary's supporters know how much she is an important player. For example, Pelosi knows that some Hillary supporters like Hoyer want to contest her leadership.

8. well, it doesn't speak well of what kind of candidate she would be
if all of her supporters feel the need to not give credit to Kerry or bring up any issue she isn't prepared to speak on.

and why her ? why not Gore? i would think if it was a continuation of the Clinton administration they wanted, Gore would be the better choice to support since he was vp. and of course he actually ran and won before.

and seriously, i just can't see her doing well if people actually get to see her compared to other candidates. she could probably do well in California, New York and other big media states where the campaign is mostly about money for ads rather than retail politics of talking to voters one on one.

and Reid can't get over it that Kerry wanted Durbin to be Senate Leader and if KErry had been elected he would have been able to get that (assuming Daschle lost which he did).

3. The same reasons the Repugs don't give Senator Kerry credit:
he is a threat and he's more than any one of them will ever be.

4. The fact that there were only 3 is what makes it really blatant
That he said it in the context that thishas been a career position - Kerry has been there longer than either of them and was for it from 1985 on. (In fact, he even mention the issue tangentialy in 1971 in the Senate when he spoke of how much money it took to win. Obama was likely in grade school then.) Could it be that he wants the focus on Feingold. (Feingold as the left candidate vs Clinton - is way better than if Kerry takes that position, with Feingold falling out early. If it comes down to Hillary vs (Feingold or Edwards), Hillary will likely win. Hillary/Kerry could show what a lie certain RW memes are.

Like you it bothers me that Kerry absolutely doesn't do these petty things himself. Maybe we should all write Emmanuel, maybe referencing what % of people see him as a leader.

6. It is annoying the crap out of me.
Why is Jack Reed the "Vietnam spokesman" for the dems. I like Reed, but Kerry is a much better speaker.

And why wasn't Kerry on the frontline of the Dem's strategy speech they gave this week?

Kerry got more votes than any other dem Presidential candidate.
You think they would put him out there as much as they could.

I don't get it. :wtf:

7. It's ridiculous. Interesting to see
Clark delivering Democratic address on Real Security and John Kerry delivering the Democratic address in Spanish.

12. Clearly not meant to be to Kerry's advantage
but, the immigration issue is a huge issue for many hispanics (per news reports, posts etc). I don't know how Kerry's speech will be received by them - the English text sounded good to me. The Hispanic population has been more Democratic than Republican. In the primaries in the Southwest and west, there will be a significant percent of Hispanics. In crowded primaries, the winner may need only 35% to win - Kerry has done the Spanish address at least once before and Teresa is Latina. (If Richardson fails to be a serious candidate - could Kerry get a surprising amount of that community. Did Hispanics like Clinton? Is the stereotype that their culture is conservative on male/female roles a negative for Hillary?) The other question is whether this reachs many people.

As to Clark doing the security one - it helps that he is a former 4 star general. It does give him some visibility - but not much. How many people will hear it? It helps give him some credentials as a Democrat. His work in 2004 also did this.

10. Remember who Rahm Emmanuel is and how he got his start.
He started out in the Clinton White House. It could be that, at best, he has other motives in promoting some and not promoting other Dems.

Also, Sen. Kerry raised $400,000 for 5 House candidates in just a few days. Mr. Emmanuel is the Chair of the DCCC. I wonder how long it took him to raise $400,000 and why he hasn't put out congratulatory press releases saying how pleased he is that the Senator Kerry helped him out here.

I really wonder. Gee, do you think it might be, ahm, political?

13. Also as head ol the DCCC, he likely appoved the survey
that included him and Carville - but left off Kerry as a choice. I doubt he was thrilled with either his number - though it is understandable as he is hardly known - or that Kerry came within (I think) one point of Hillary as a write in.

11. The Dems-- the k0ssy ones, that is...
are always blathering on and on about politicians needing to "connect"... but it's my suspicion that they really don't know a whole lot about connection.

The Senator goes face-to-face with his constituents. He does that as much as he can with people who do not share his lifestyle or his outlook. And he gets done one-on-one.

It's easy to build rapport with someone when you already share a background and beliefs. It take somebody who's really a master at connection, to do same with somebody very unlike you. That's Kerry at work.
