Atrios: Kerry to Make Iraq News
Atrios' advice probably goes double for DU...

Kerry to Make Iraq News

I hear Kerry's going to make a bit of Iraq news sometime in the next day or so. Be prepared for extra troll poop and get your spittle guards ready - they'll probably bring the Swift Boat Liars out of retirement again.

1. The people who wrote on the atrios thread are pretty creepy
not to mention ill informed. This seems to have no detail behind it. The problem is that it may just be speculation - his comments on Imus and in MA, do sound like he is at that point. And they're correct that if he does, Kerry will be attacked. (though in his case, what can they say that they haven't already said.)

2. I posted my first-ever comment at Atrios today
Maybe we could round up some Kerrycrats to go over there and defend his honor?

3. There may be some truth to this
There might be news coming. Atrios is usually ahead of the curve.

The commentators can be very, very evil though.

This bears a lot of watching.

4. Atrios is an "A List" blog, so I agree with Tay Tay
I think he's going to come out in favor of some type of withdrawal that is NOT dependent on "stability" like he said last month. The reason is in my Iraq post about the political situation which has deteriorated. But . . . this is only speculatation and I could be DEAD wrong. Nevertheless, why would Atrios announce this if nothing ends up happening?

6. I never go to Atrios
but I went over there after seeing this, Rox, and posted a reply on the JK thread. Yikes, those people are out of control! They sound like freepers -- are they really supposed to be Democrats??

8. I wouldn't worry too much about those comments
Here's why: the format of the site, which puts all 400+ posts in a little white box for you to read through: how many people are going to read through all of those. I know I don't!

10. Here's some follow up on the PTSD bill
Bill would provide more funds for PTSD counseling and benefits

By Rick Maze
Times staff writer

Senate Democrats unveiled a bill Tuesday aimed at providing counseling and benefits for combat veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The bill, S 2500, the Healing the Invisible Wounds Act of 2006, aims to prevent the Bush administration from cutting disability benefits for veterans with combat stress and to improve counseling and readjustment services for National Guard and reserve members, sponsors said.

Snip...

Kerry, the former presidential candidate and a Vietnam veteran, said, “We owe our troops more than a polite thanks and best wishes. We need to stand by our troops during and after their service. The wounds of war are not always visible, and this is not an area we can continue to shortchange our veterans.”

The bill includes $180 million extra for readjustment counseling and mental health services at Vet Centers, and a promise of one-on-one counseling for returning veterans in addition to group counseling.

11. Wow, that's a lot of crap to have to wade through over there.
Seems like folks are more interested in producing snappy banter than actually discussing the issue.
