Bad day for the Democrats
Posted at: 23:10

A double dose of bad news for the Democrats today – or at least one piece of bad news and one gloomy reminder of some old bad news.

Many Democrats (and quite a few Republicans) will be cheering the downfall of Tom DeLay. The former pest controller who loved to live up to his various nicknames, in particular, the Hammer and the Exterminator, was arguably third only to President George W Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney in the Democratic rogues’ gallery.

Smart Talk and Girly Talk on the Campaign Trail

By Richard Morin
Tuesday, April 4, 2006; Page A02

Forget the Swift boat ads, the economy or international terrorism. Here's what really may have decided the last presidential election:

President Bush and Vice President Cheney sounded more presidential than their Democratic counterparts. Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.) seemed the most depressed or suicidal. And Kerry's running mate, Sen. John Edwards (N.C.), sounded the most like a "girly man."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/03/AR2006040301487.html

I for one am celebrating DeLay's downfall, more to come, and Bush and Cheney sound like idiotic liars!

I swear even some of the wingnuts have a thing for Kerry's sexy voice.

Someone get's it:

1. I uhh read that washington post article
since the post is the paper I read and it was a bunch of fucking crap. Cheney sounded the most honest yeah too bad he's a fucking liar and we all know it. Honestly though to me Kerry and Edwards sounded more optimistic than Bush and Cheney did. Remember Bush and Cheney were saying basically another 9-11 would happen if Kerry-Edwards got elected, and their campaigners were telling people in swing states that they would ban the bible. God I cant believe these bastards are still in office.

Just what we need, more women who are enamored of the Senator's voice and stuff.

Kerry was the most depressed? Who was anaylzing this: Marvin the computer from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

4. If it's what get's
them listening, cool. They'll soon discover that Kerry makes perfect sense. Of course, swooning can get in the way of listening.

5. The one in Spanish was really, really good
Yummy good.

Ahm, I read the content and I concur with the good Senator's appeal to the Latino voter. We have policies based on sound reasons and good common sense. I paid attention.

Yummy good.

9. His voice sounds different in Spanish
Knowing no spanish, I'm embarrassed to admit I thought the first sentence was someone Hispanic introducing him - then I recognized the voice. It had a softer edge to it.

6. That study is complete BS
I really do not think the analysis done by the Texas University is any more sensible than the results you get on those carnival machines that measure you on about 8 categories when you put quarters in.

Maybe they should verify the results based on humans listening. Even the Republicans conceded Kerry won the debates hands down.

I seriously think this was a prank. However, you note that they don't consider how the words go together and make any sense. I suspect it's a prank because Kerry's sentences are long and complex. It is likely that his words were more depressed than Bush's and Cheney's - they were saying everything was great - he was telling the truth. On all the others the results follow RW slurs - which is pretty telling.

8. Yeah I thought that was kooky too
Oh and if you read the actual article Cheney sounds like a man's man. He sounds more like a villian from an old time cartoon if you ask me. I love the way he talks from the side of his fucking mouth hahaha.

10. This "study" is a bunch of bunk. Coming from the University of Texas
it obviously plays favorites. And if there was a bit of melancholy in Kerry's voice he is in good company, Lincoln was also said to sound depressed at times. Or how about this, Bush sucked, what was there to be happy about except the prospect of removing him from office.
Oh, and don't get me started on that lying Chaney, His lies could fill volumes of books.
Edwards=girly man?:rofl:

Bush the most Presidential and oldest sounding :puke:

11. Actually I hear the University of Texas at Austin is liberal
but Cheney honest yeah right. I have heard that about Lincoln too, I really would love to hear what he sounded like. The earliest president Ive heard audio wise was Benjamin Harrison, not someone I wondered about I must say.
