3. I got pulled into a nasty Webb thread
that started out about Harris Miller. Sigh. This is one subject where I have great difficulty containing my anger.

2. Commented
There's already a Stupid on there. I swatted him, but like roaches, it takes a lot to actually kill them. Also like roaches, Stupids are perfectly capable of surviving without a head (since they don't really utilize theirs anyway).

7. Done for both - thanks for the directions
I kept looking to find something - but didn't even think to look that far to the right! (I really should have participated there before. Now it's fun going through recommending all the people I know or those who write sensible Kerry things.

8. Wayne Allard today on the Senate floor
Can you guys help on this?

“I would like to start off by saying that I’ve been very supportive of the President on the war in Iraq, because he has had a plan and he has stayed the course. That’s what gives me confidence in the President. I do think that what we see today in the criticism of the President from Senator Kerry; we’re seeing an individual who’s being spun in the political winds, unlike the President when he calls the strategy of today counterproductive. And that we ought to pull our forces immediately out of Iraq is a catastrophic suggestion. And it’s not anything we should consider very seriously, you know, it wasn’t that far—long ago when Senator Kerry was saying it would be a disaster and a disgraceful betrayal of principle to speed up the process to simply lay the groundwork for politically expedient withdrawal of American troops.”

First of all, does he speak English? Secondly, this is what the r-w will be parroting for the next few days, so let's get it going.

11. I hope English is his second language

- the Kerry quote comes from December 3, 2003 - almost 2 1/2 years ago - "not that long ago"
Link to quote: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3660748/

- Rather than "politically expediant withdrawal", Kerry has said that the threat of withdrawal is used as leverage to get them to get their act together - I know this was in Franken and Schultz interviews, but I only saw video links.

To counter the basic charge of blowing in the wind, does this make sense?
-Comparing the various Kerry plans, they evolve in response to changes in the situation, but they retain many of the same elements. Kerry is both flexible (responding to what's happening) and consistent in overall framework.
Components of the plans:
-Diplomacy involving international organizations, neighboring countries was in the 2004 plan, the
2005 plans and this plan.
-Likewise transferring security to the Iraqis. In this plan, the option if they form a government defaults to something that sounds close to the Oct 2005 plan. The other option, recgnizes there is a civil war and by definition no government - so what would providing or helping on security even mean.

On Bush:
Allard may be confident, but the country as a whole isn't and by all measures, it's worse.
What is Bush's plan? - they did publish a plan last June or July - and I don't think the plan included taking over 4 months after the election to form a government and a low grade civil war. So, as they are not on plan - why aren't they adjusting it?
