Attack thread on Kerry concerning India on GD
If somebody wants to go defend him, please go.

I did what I could, but I cant really say I agree with him on the issue, so I will keep away now that some people came.

1. Isn't it a-maze-ing
How these threads "magically" appear when Kerry is getting good vibes and in the news? And how the roaches "magically" come out of the woodwork?

I wonder where they're coming from... not.

2. I am not really surprised. I was expecting them yesterday.
This thread is only 24 hours late.

And of course, the only person that is called upon is Kerry. Nobody else. It is so easy.

3. I know
I've just been posting the link to his withdrawal resolution. I dare them to try to make broad-brush bashes against him today, I just dare them to.

If they can't attack him on something where they would look like complete idiots and hypocrites, boom, lets go after him in a different light.

I don't understand everything about the India thing, but I do know that John Kerry would not sign on to something if he truly thought it would harm us. As far as I know he hasn't actually fully signed on , just talk from Washington insiders is all I can see. Until I find out more, I really can't say how I feel about it, and nothing is in writing yet, it will have to be debated in the House and Senate, just have to wait and see.

6. I know that it is his pragmatic side here.
I have no problem with India having nuclear energy. However, I dont see how breaching the NPT ,which is already very weak, without replacing it with something else, will help, particularly when negotiated by the Bush house.

Kerry had an outstanding proposal to replace the NPT in his speech in Ireland. However, if he is not in a position to push it.

So it is all about trusting Bush, once again. I just would hope he had been more cautious as he has not yet seen the treaty and we are still months away from a signature.

9. Here
http://blog.thedemocraticdaily.com/?p=2133

To be smart, however, we must also correct the inherent flaw in the nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty that allows nations such as Iran to advance their illicit nuclear weapons capability under the cover of permitted civilian nuclear programs. The fact is that once a country can create its own nuclear fuel, it can probably build a nuclear weapon. To prevent this, America and other nuclear powers must establish international control of the nuclear fuel cycle by creating a reliable, affordable, and accessible bank of nuclear fuel. This will allow us to provide reactor fuel to states that conform to non-proliferation agreements while keeping that fuel under strict international safeguards.

America can also provide more determined leadership in preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons by setting the right example ourselves. By advancing negotiations on a global fissile material cut-off treaty; foreswearing the development of new nuclear weapons; and ratifying the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, we can send the right message to the world about our commitment to creating a more effective global non-proliferation regime.

5. It's dropping off
I'm taking a 'wait and see' attitude about the India nuke business. While I don't necessarily agree with JK on the issue, either, I can see why he may support India on this. Their next-door neighbor, Pakistan is their main concern and reason for this, as far as I can tell.
