2. He has now been caught in a red handed LIE!!
Americans don't like liars. This is the "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" moment. He is a LIAR, and nothing he can say now will change this. This combined with him LYING that there is no civil war in Iraq and that childish, stupid grin on his face when Harry admonished him tells me that he is GUILTY. The look on his face was just like my 5 year old when I am disciplining her and she's nervous and knows she's been caught. HE was behind all of this because he goes after his enemies in a ruthless manner. He has no soul, no concept of right and wrong, yet he thinks he's on a mission from God. The WORST combination.

I support impeachment proceedings as soon as the Democratic Congress convenes in 2007.

Someone posted in GD that maybe * and OJ should create a club...they're each trying to find themselves.

(apologies to any who believe in OJ's innocence)

10. He is a monster and a fascist.
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 02:42 PM by WildEyedLiberal
Wasn't that disgusting? The way he grinned the whole time as that AMERICAN CITIZEN was speaking his mind and telling him all the illegal things he had done? It literally chilled me to watch that. This man has no morals, folks. None. If he thought he could get away with martial law, internment camps for his enemies, and whole-scale fascism, he WOULD. Without QUESTION.

In my opinion, the only thing that has saved us is America's 200+ year tradition of personal freedom. Bush couldn't just declare martial law and throw dissenters in jail or there'd be a civil war - but I think our longstanding tradition of civil liberties that is ingrained in every American, regardless of whether they are liberal or not, is the only thing stopping him from doing so.

Go see V for Vendetta. Yes, it's a movie based off a graphic novel, so of course there are elements that are over the top, but I truly feel that the fascist England in that film is where America is headed if we do not cut the head off this beast now. The fascist government in "V" whipped its citizens into a paralyzed fear by creating fears of terror, death, and chaos, and manipulated those fears in order to secure complete compliance and obediance from the public, and while I won't disclose the bombshell revelation of the movie, suffice to say I hope it got people thinking about the parallels in present-day America.

I am glad you've come around, beachmom. George W. Bush isn't simply a conservative Republican whose policies I disagree strongly with. He is a fascist, amoral tyrant who desires nothing more than to utterly destroy the foundations of this country and replace them with a PNAC New World Order fundamentalist Christian fascist theocracy in which a wealthy class of ruling elites supress the hundreds of millions of serfs who have no rights, no liberties, no living wages, no health care or benefits, and no hope. We must stop not only Bush but his entire cabal and their fascist plan for America now before they drive us beyond the point of no return.

11. I think we only had a narrow disagreement in the first place
I'm just not a fan of the word "fascist", but how I define * and how you define * are EXACTLY the same, regardless of the label we choose to use. My only objection to impeachment before was because it seemed like the burden would be completely on Democrats. Now all you have to do is run the tapes of * talking about how "if anyone's leaking from this WH, he won't be working here anymore" over and over. Blatant LIE!!! EASY for the people to understand, instead of the back and forth on WMD. He has been shown to be indisputably a LIAR, for once and for all.

Let's win in '06 and take him down.

13. I call him a fascist because I think that's what he truly wants
I think, if Little Lord Pissypants had his way and could do anything he wanted, he would institute a fascist government. I really do. He's certainly no more moral than Mussolini or Franco, history's forgotten fascists. I think, if he could do what he wanted without fear of reprisal, he would make dissent a crime and "undesirables" would start disappearing overnight to secret detention facilities God knows where. He would make fundamentalist Christianity the law of the land. I really think that a government like that - where he and his buddies are in power forever, with no threat of pesky "democracy" and no need to worry about the people's discontent - if they complain, arrest them and send them to Gitmo - is his true desire. I am even more convinced of that after that hideous display yesterday. He has NO CONSCIENCE and I have no doubt in my mind that if Bush thought he could get away with it his government would be fascist in every dictionary definition of the term. We need to destroy their ideology while we still have some democracy left. He is bar none the worst American president ever.

14. Worst American president ever -- you got that right!!!
And getting worse with every passing day . . .

For me, that moment yesterday was really scary, his bizarre reaction. Think if it was Clinton or Kerry. They would have been very serious, not grinning, and would have said "I respect that you feel that way but . . . ". * didn't do that. If you notice, while Kerry showed respect toward the pro-life woman in the debates, * never said "I respect that . . . ". Because he didn't. Perhaps people at the time thought that meant he was "strong", but it actually meant that he was weak, because he didn't have the confidence or moral authority to acknowledge that people had other points of view. I think there is strength in doubting from time to time, something * NEVER does.

I thought that Harry guy was great, because he said something positive at the end about how in this country you can speak your mind. It was a warning shot, very powerful really, from one citizen that we're not going to cede any more power to him. I don't think he was a plant. I thought he was quite heroic.

15. I couldn't believe people thought he was a plant
It just goes to show how cynical Bush has made some of us. :( I never thought he was a plant, but I guess I could see how some people could - how Bush smirked the whole time and how he then used it as an excuse to defend his indefensible policies. He is evil.

4. Isn't it awful. This Prez should be removed from office
If he had any honor he would resign. But if he had any honor, he never would have run in the first place for a job he is so unable to do.

5. my husband's being a "Debbie Downer".
He thinks this one will go away just like all the other scandals have. An exposure, then a media flurry, then business as usual.

What do you all think: will this one amount to anything?

I told him that I thought the atmosphere is more set than ever for something to happen this time. The war and all the other failures are adding up, and the future looks bleak. Katrina isn't fixed yet, and now people are unsettled about immigration. It all makes people itchy. The problem is that we on the left have thought this before.

There is also the possibility he'll just resign if enough gets out about this--if they finally run out of spin and lose enough support. He's a big bluffer and liar--and if he runs out of the ability to prop himself up with PR, he's done.

6. None of these scandals have 'gone away.'
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 01:51 PM by TayTay
Bush approval rating: 36% on Fox. On friggin Fox. This is Bush's lowest and one of the lowest ever recorded for a President. Ever.

Congress: The Rethugs are in serious trouble. The Cook Report is saying that the Rethugs are going to be hit with a hurricane at the ballot box this fall. The only question is how bad the hurricane will be: Cat 1-3 might not hand over the House and Senate to the Dems. If they get an electoral Cat 4-5, which is starting to look more likely with every passing day, the Rethugs lose one or both houses.

This is a direct result of exposing these bastards as incompetent, immoral arseholes who are corrupt to the core. This is the result of exposing this President as a liar and an untrustworthy fool who should never have been hired to manage the restroom at a Burger King, nevermind the White House. The Democrats have actually done a good job of getting the message out on this President, despite not having any major media on their side. (We need to remember, this latest info on the Plame case involves a leak to the New York Times and Bush's pet reporter, Judy Miller. The press was in bed with this Admin and whored for them.)

The message is seeping in. People think this means we should have people in the streets protesting. It doesn't work that way. The discontent seeps into the soul over time and it causes things like a 65-70% majority of Americans saying to pollsters that we are going in the wrong direction. It is that quiet but deadly accumulation that make electoral change. It *is* happening.

7. Only if there is more to this
So far we know that Bush has been selectivelyleaking info to boost his case. If this is all that comes of it, it won't change things much. Sure it proves Bush has been misleading the country, but there has been plenty of other evidence of this.

However, if Bush can be directly tied to leading Plame's identity, then this could be devastating.

Don't get too down by my first paragraph. While it could turn out to be "business as usual" note that "business as usual" really means a gradual downhill spiral of support for Bush. If not tied directly to Plame, this won't be the final straw by any means, but it is one more revelation which will cause Bush to continue to drop in approval and remain a lame duck.

I doubt he would resign unless impeachment and conviction appear inevitable. He'll continue lying to claim innocence even if he is no longer taken seriously by virtually anyone.

9. it's a matter of how fast the decline, then.
It's either a big, blown-up smoking gun scandal, or the slow kind--the drip, drip, drip of one thing on top of the last, until the people scream "enough!" I think the latter is probably more likely, given how the media is for the most part not a willing player.

Like Nixon, he'd have to have those closest to him, say Rove, come to him late one night and tell him, "it's over". Otherwise I agree that he'll just keep on with his Quixotic crusade against "evildoers", both foreign and domestic.

Mike Malloy has talked about how * is a pathological liar as well as a psychopath. Well--you know how Malloy is. But *'s ability to lie as if he fully believes himself is a real symptom of a pathological liar. He believes that saying it makes it true, basically--that reality doesn't really mean much--it's what he chooses to make of it that's real. I've certainly seen this over and over, and it's really sick and unbalanced.

8. Bush has been looking for himself
He told us he was going to find the leaker when he was neck-deep in it all along. If he didn't tell Fitzgerald, that's obstruction of justice, just like Martha Stewart. If we stay on message and don't get distracted with their excuses, then yeah, this could be the final nail in the coffin. It's simple to understand. Kind of like OJ searching for the real killer, as someone referred to earlier.

16. Enough is enough
simple as that. I signed on to Impeach the SOB 3 years ago. I knew he was lying through his teeth then. He might of gotten a little respect from me after 9/11, but he used that as a tool and that made me sick.

He should resign, but then we are stuck with Mr. Evil himself Cheney, I don't want to see that. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't. I really wish the people of this country took to the streets after the '04 election. We should have stood up and said NO this was not a fair election, how did we as a people just let those anomalies that happened , people in line for 10 hours, votes changing from Kerry to Bush, people calling and telling people that they would be voting on Wednesday not Tuesday, Republican operatives allowed in voting places to disrupt voters, and on and on. My God this is the 21st Century and we still allow votes to be suppressed. This really angers me. Are we just going to say "oh well, shit happens" or are we as a people going to do something about it. Sorry I really get upset about this.

PaulK brought up the simpletons, did anyone watch The Daily Show last night and the clip of the so called minister hitting people with his jacket and saying he was healing them. My God that was a church full of simpletons, what are they on, what makes them get so into that phoney baloney, and what is worse they probably all voted for Bush. :banghead:

P.S. I checked our great paper today and NOTHING in there about Kerry's plan.

17. And in the 'It Can Get Worse' category, we have
KKKarl Rove giving a speech to the blood-sucking scum of the earth, ahm, Republican Lawyers Association saying that what is wrong with Oregon is that it doesn't have enough 'safeguards' on the voting process and how do we know that people who show up on the day of a vote at an actual polling place, didn't already mail in a ballot.

Yup, that's KKKarl the, so far, unindicted, getting ready for the next Rethug Reduce the Vote initiative: We have to make sure that illegal voters can't get anywhere near a ballot box.

The Rethugs are aiming at restricting registration and access from the get-go. In case their little fraud schemes with the electronic machines goes down the tubes.

BTW, if you have the stomach for it, the video of KKKarl is on C-Span today. Sigh!

I could not believe my eyes when that bastard was talking about people being able to vote. This is becoming insane the biggest , dirtiest, sleaziest, fucking bastard criminal in this country talking to fucking Republican CORPORATE lawyers about the voting system, and HE doesn't like ONLINE voting, I thought I was dreaming and having the biggest damn fucking nightmare of my life. What is next ?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2558687&mesg_id=2558687

It is dire. There is a direct correlation between Bush's lies and incompetence and needless loss of life.
